Pete
Not a bad job/skill to have. You'd expect it to cost about that or more as it can't happen too often to sustain a steady wage.

gaz1
ok half hour drive each way for him, 45mins sorting it, supplying and fitting a new lock, i think it was cheap out of normal working hours too
mr lover
I think you were robbed. he will be later, the locksmith now has a key to the house
probrox
I think you were robbed. It's not too bad for a private customer. The company i work for would normally charge about £95 for a callout and standard night latch change, but we only work for councils and housing associations. Scott
he will be later, the locksmith now has a key to the house I blanked out when i wrote that, must have been a premonition Gaz, what you also have to remember is that he probably took a lot longer than he needed to lol. I reckon you were screwed out of some cash as there was no reason to replace your lock. I've taken loads of snapped keys out of locks in my work. In fact everyone is worried i am a thief as i am pretty handy with locks and lock picking. He gets the locks for buttons and instead of just taking out your broken key and making you a new one, or just opening the lock to allow you to get into the house and access a spare to take to a keymakers, he gives you a new lock and charges you a pretty penny for it. Must have big pockets if you think that was value for money

robin
Doesnt sound bad. £125 goes nowhere, barely two tanks of petrol for a supra....

Havard
I think you were robbed. Gaz, are you still bent over as I may nip down and have a go myself....... That sounds a bit steep to me, although I am tighter than a gnats chuff!! he will be later, the locksmith now has a key to the house That happened to us when we had our new double glazing installed. We were burgled a week later with no forced entry. The Police reckoned the company had no previous complaints against them. I reckon one of the installers got a key copied and sold it on to some scrote!! H.
Pig
£125 for a call out out of hours and a new lock! - Seems cheap enough to me! Nice to see there are plenty of people who are honest and not rip off merchants.
Havard
Forgot to mention the guy who recently laid my new lawn. He gave me a price of £340 to lay the lawn and put down the turf and about a ton of soil, move a tree stump etc. Turned out that he did the job in a day and a half and not two and a half days as quoted and gave me £100 back...... Now that's an honest guy or a bad business man..... H.
Marty
Sounds a good price, for call out, travelling, hours labour and a new lock

Whitesupraboy2
I once was quoted £250 for a new car key. As it was a call out....If ive lost the key for my car of course its going to be a call out...what do you expect!! Anyway found the key and it was an astra and the little sensor / immobilser in the key had fallen out and found it by chance on the floor!
