Is the stock exhaust very restrictive?

If i just decat the supra, add a MBC and the fuel cut defender do will i loose a lot of power if i leave the rest of the exhaust stock?

If i have to upgrade the whole exhaust, what's the minimum pipe diameter i should put? 2,5" or 3"?

Thanks.

i think if you leave the stock exhaust on and run a boost controller (is this what you called an MBC ?) you will never get the most out of the car, yes the cat back exhaust is very restrictive just have a look under the car and you will see, 2 1/2" or 65mm is fine for most applications, get a new cat back exhaust the difference is amazing the car is quicker and revs much faster viva espania

Most cars without any from of restriction (decat + performance exhaust) seem to get around 1.3-1.4 barg. They use a restrictor ring to limit this to a (considered) safe level of around 1.1-1.2 barg.

I would be interested to see what sort of boost you get without any boost controller, but would think that you could probably get to this 1.1-1.2 barg level with a boost controller, manual or not.

The main thing is to ensure that you have a pressure gauge to see waht levels of boost you get. if you hit 1.4 barg with the cats out, adjust yer boost controller. If you only get 1.1 barg. I would just leave it as it is. :)

Yeah a MBC is a Manual Boost Controller. I will reuse a ball&spring one that i used to have in my mitsu eclipse.

But if i get some boost spikes (as it did on the mitsu) i will have to buy a profecB.

1,1bars is the way to go, don't?

I will put a Boost gauge on the clock place.

As I am in Europe like you, wich exhaust should i get? I don't need anything like titanium exhaust, just something cheap that does it's job.

I know that in USA they have a lot of stuff to choose from and we're more limited in variety.

What do you guys use?

Thanks.

Barg?

Cool, something technical you don't know!!! HA HA HA!!! I'm not going to tell you either :D

Are you stalking me again?

Oh, alright then..........it means bar gauge. If you were to measure true pressure (dpendenat on atmospheric conditions) you would need to add 1.013.

Therefore 1 bar gauge (barg) would = 2.013 bara (atmospheric). I use it alot at work and have to trey and remember not to type it to confuse anyone :upside:

If you push up boost with the cats in you may suffer major heat build up as it will be trapped by the first cat.

I meant him taking out the cats and leaving the standard exhaust on. That's what I thought the question was. :friday:
