Jamesy
....does anyone have any experience of owning a Tortoise as a pet? We have been offered one by my mum-in-law as her friend is a breeder. I think my kids will love it as a pet, but am aware thats its not as easy as just bringing it home as plonking it on the sofa! Does anyone have any experience of owning one that could offer some words of wisdom? I love the idea of it, but need more info first!! Tar muchly
Chewie
Well you don't need to take it for walkies or have problems with fleas but don't expect it to fetch a stick.

A girl I know has suddenly developed a craving to own a jeweled tortoise. I'm not sure why though, it must be a female thing

spidermonkey
They aren't as slow as you think, they bury themselves (well mine did) and they hibernate during the winter. Oh people also nick them as they can be worth some money, but they are cute

I think she likes the idea of it having a diamond encrusted into it's back. A galapagos giant tortoise would be cool though, albeit a little endangered and lettuce-hungry, and a bit big for my flat! Yep, that's the thing, I'd have one if I wasn't in a flat.
Animal
I'm sure there's a turtle's head joke in here somewhere, but I can't bring myself to pop one out.
SmigzyTT
What type of tortoise is it mate? I have a russian horsefield, they can pretty much look after themselves, a bath every 10 days in warm water, tortoise pellets once a day or two days, bit of calcium on some lettuce, not very difficult to look after. Need to be kept at around 70 degrees, with an ultra violet lamp and/or a hotspot in their box/tank. I just let mine loose in the front room and he's fine! Usually find him behind the TV in the wires or under the radiator LOL

juanchan
Is she Paris Hilton?! Yep, that's the thing, I'd have one if I wasn't in a flat. She's way more attractive than Paris Hilton! I'd have looked into quite a few pets by now if I was in a house not a flat We also need pics of the tortoise that started the thread!
