SupraRider
Hi Peeps, I hope you can help..I own a 93 J-Spec N/A auto. the overdrive button has been working fine when I pressed on the button, the car dropped from 4000RPM to 3000RPM when I'm accelerating at 70mph. recently, I noticed the car is not responding to it, I'm always driving at 4000RPM at 70mph on the motorway.. Can someone tell me what's wrong?
Mike_Mac
Does the dash light still come on when you press the button? If it doesn't then the two wires from the O/D button to the loom could have been damaged somewhere along the way - happened to mine a few months back, as the wires had come free of its securing clips, got caught on the lever's mechanisms and then seperated. New button assy's about £30 from Mr T.
carl0s
Have you left MANU on ?
SupraRider
hi guys, thanks for writing, apologies for not getting back sooner...the dash light goes off when I press on the O/D button, works as normal, the car just doesn't seemed to respond fast enough, when it does, it goes great for a while, then the car start to get into high revs again, this happens even when the O/D button is pressed. As for the MANU button, my MANU button isn't working.
Mike_Mac
As for the MANU button, my MANU button isn't working. The Manu, O/D, Trac etc systems are all interconnected at different points and share many of the same feeds, so not having a working Manu button could be screwing up the O/D further along the line, as they all send inputs to the same place. I'd check the wiring/connections behind your Manu button just to make sure it's nothing simple and dig further if necessary until I get it working properly. If the problem still occurs with a working Manu button then it's something a bit more involved unfortunately. Let us know how you get on. Hi Mike, Thanks for that, do you know where I could get that checked? I live up here in Scotland, would you recommend going to a toyota dealership?bet they'll rip me off since they don't know what they're talking about... any ideas please? Mike_Mac
Difficult to say. I'd personally start stripping things out and looking for bad/loose connections myself first, before I took it anywhere, but it depends on your mechanical knowledge. There's plenty of wiring diagrams out on t'net to help you also. I don't know if there's any Supra specialists up near L & B either, unless you count Envy in Northumberland. Maybe someone else who's further North than I am now could help? If not then i'd see if there's any decent auto-electricians in your area and go from there. Mr T may charge a lot, but they should be able to sort it out as a last resort. Hope you get it sorted.
