Phil Wall
I believe the part I am referring to is called the orifice, unless I have had too many Glenmorangie's. It is a small part that fits in the Y piece that connects to the vacuum hoses. Does anyone know what purpose it serves and what is the impact of not fitting it? (Please, only on topic answers). What do I do if I don't have an orifice? I wish I had not asked that.
THOR Racing
Errr Orifice is another word for opening. I think you are referring to the FILTER! Is it a little disc like thing with a small diameter pipe on either side. This should be located in series (in-one) with the gauge. I'd say it's best to fit it but not sure why as the air is filtered anyway at this point. Maybe the electronics inside are very sensitive and they don't know where you are actually going to fit it so to be sure they supply their own little filer. Guest Martin F
Nope it's not a filter. It's more like a little brass nipple (Ohhhh Errrrrr Missus!) I have the same gauges, fitted my nipple bit, but wasn't too sure of it's purpose.

I didn't fit it but would like to know where its attached, right now I have no idea where its plumbed in other than on the intake side. Guest Martin F
It's the orifice (great description!) shown at the bottom with the T. http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/
Phil Wall
Thanks guys, I just read somewhere that it is an optional fitment and acts as a restrictor and reduces needle flicker at tick-over. Alex if you have not fitted one, does your needle flicker at tick over?
Alex
Err...never really noticed.... I'm sure I would have done if it did....I'll go hunting for the bits tomorrow afternoon (half day yey!!) Cheers for the piccy
Phil Wall
Thanks Mark, just wanted to know, as my kit does not have the orifice or Y piece so I am just going to use a T for now.

Phil Wall
Shit, you noticed!!:o
Phil Wall
The gauge works fine with a 4mm T piece in place of the Greddy Y and orifice. No problems with flicker. The gauge works well, peak hold and warning are very useful.
