RedM
Just got a new laptop with Vista. Being paid up sunscribers of Zonealarm Pro I downloaded the Vista version and CRASH! it wouldn't bloody work after installation. Every time it loaded I got the dreaded blue screen of death. Are there any other decent software firewalls available that run with Vista? I'm currently hiding behind Vista own firewall and my router's firewall but I still feel exposed. Any tips on getting ZA running on Vista?

Thorin
Vista's own firewall plus the NAT'ing rules on your firewall are all you need... technically you don't even need Vista's firewall either as unless you're forwarding a load of ports on your router there's no need. Use https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 make sure everything is green, and relax.
RedM
Why don't you test to see if you actually are exposed before spending more money? Well, erm, Shields Up! said I was super stealthy but I don't know. I just don't trust MS to keep anything secure. Could you recommend any other site that test my security, per chance? Pete
I've not bothered with a firewall for years. My router and NOD32 is adequate. Mind you, I guess it depends what kind of user you are and how aware you are of the processes that are running on your system.

RedM
how aware you are of the processes that are running on your system. You know in Teh Matrix when Neo can 'see' the code? I'm like that with processes apart from not being Neo, not being able to see the code and not knowing WTF you are on about!!!!
RedM
I've found a natty little Windows Firewall application that tell you when outgoing programs try to access the internet. It then asks if you want to allow it once, everytime or deny. It's like ZA but free.
