What vote ??

There were some local elections today, I don't think your council was up.

To the others, a no-vote is a vote in favour of our current government ;) The problem is much of the youngsters have not experienced any other Government so only know the current one (or blindly follow their parents voting patern - much the same as religion really!)

Totally agree. I used to be an apathetic youngster - "what's the point, they're all terrible etc", but I'm afraid the reality is that voting is the only way we have to actually influence who's in power and the crap we have to take for the next 5 years (or 10, or 15 yawn)

Was worried I'd missed something, what with working away so much at the moment

Labour have had the vote since God was a boy in Wigan. Didn't vote as I don't see the point.....:(

If there was an "Apathy party" then maybe I would make the effort. None of them convinced me with their postal propeganda.......

I actually voted today...

And I didn't vote for a party, I voted for the only person who is ACTUALLY local, the other two claimed to be local and when I checked lived 10 miles away, so how could they claim to represent our parish and the problems we face.

True Havard! They are all the same but the conservatives atm, seem the 'better party' compared to labour...:)

You must be seeing something I'm not Mr Soop. They all make promises to get elected and then go on a four/five year holiday as they feel like the hard work was done getting elected......:( I doubt Mr Cameron would be any different!!

Everybody loves complaining about the 'bent, overpaid, lazy, power crazy politicians', yet most of them don't bother to exercise their power over who holds the job. Because god forbid, some of them actually do work hard and do a good job ;)

Not forgetting of course that these are local elections, so not the same people that you read about in the papers claiming £1,000,000,000 in expenses every year. Many of them are ex business people who after they've secured retirement, decided to try and give something back.

They are all sh*t but Labour are something else entirely. Unless you are some old slapper with a fanny like a melted wellington living in a council provided domicile with 5 kids from 3-5 men and a 100 a day Lambert & Butler habit, what exactly do labour bring to the table?

The conservatives were bent, no doubt about it, but they were bent by shagging prostitutes, or eachother or getting their toes sucked. They weren't taking bungs for titles, they were not screwing EVERYONE into the ground, they did not co-start a war against the peoples wishes, they did not believe in handing out wheelbarrows full of cash to spongers for a vote.

Everyone mentions the 15% interest rate- that would have happened to Labour too, and looking at Nothern Rock thank f**k they weren't in power at the time. Labour inherited a strong, rebounding economy, it was theirs to screw up.

Labour is all about taxes, red tape and targets.

Edit, oh look, Labour have got an almighty shoeing. The map is almost completely blue and yellow.

I must admit that I was one of those people who has always voted labour because my family had always voted that way.

However, as I am now being royally screwed with the cost of fuel, mortgage etc etc I decided not to vote labour this year.

I didn't vote at all though, as I am of the same oppinion as most that it makes no difference they are all as bad as each other.

I dont see the problem as being the party in power, thats a problem that will never be solved as power brings greed to all that are human.

Its the amount of postions that are alocated in each different constituent, why do we have to pay these f*cking idiots salaries and expenses to sit around a table and debate about what they are going to do...i.e after already spending millions of pounds on surveys/reports, consultants, advisors, accountants, lawyers, sometimes taking up years, they will turn around and just scrap projects....thinking nothing of it

The main problem is, everyone wants a postion of power, to make the headlines in the hope that one day they will become the almighty...the ones that dont, screw us rotten, lets be honest if you were earning 60K a year and had access to thousands in expenses you would do it too.

All for Scotland and all the rest of it, but the whole affair just smacks of greed, power and corruption...again creating more of these f*cking positions in the name of independance...who gives a flying duck! England creates a law...we debate about it with meetings costing more money....2years later the same law comes into play in Scotland, and vice versa, its a sad state of affairs.
