RobSheffield
And the answer, after a tense few minutes with a spanner is 'yes' The cloth/fabric of the airbag is stil in there, and it can stay there until i find someone to swap it with
AndrewOW
Hi Rob Just to keep you company I'm just awaiting delivery of a nearly new steering wheel, and I'd also like to know how to get it all off, if at all possible! I've got an airbag wheel like yours, but don't want to mess the whole thing up trying to get it off to replace it. Would you be able to post what you did as a procedural guide for me, as I haven't got a clue, please? I have done a search, but the decent guide on another thread has now disappeared, so if you were able to do it simply, then I'd appreciate it muchly. RobSheffield
Hi mate I simply removed those 4 nuts (ill edit the pic if you need me to) and removed the gas generator cartridge in the centre. The airbag itself is still inside but there is no way it can go off since the centre plastic yellow bit is what makes it fire.
AndrewOW
That info would be good yes, plus did the wheel centre 'cover' come off easily, or are there lots of screws to undo? I see on another photoset, that I would need torx screw drivers etc?

The facia comes away with 2 Torx type bolts into the wheel itself, one either side, if you remove the covers access is easy. If you get stuck PM me if you like! How's she coming along Rob? BTW I have both your cams now so will get them out to you next week. Just waiting for the cams sir And the brakes, clutch, tyres and mapping, MOT tax and insurance and and and
