AndyT
Sennheiser. All the time. Spend as much as you can. They're fantastic.
Pixelfill
Hi hun, don't underestimate comfort Linda. I rate Sony MDR-EX71SL, I've had 2 pairs and the sound quality is great, but most of all they are comfortable Mike

michael
You haven't mentioned budget but the cheap Sennheiser CX300's punch well above their price would indicate, good bass, block out most of the background noise, well built and comfortable. Just be careful if you buy on eBay, lots of fakes around.
AndyT
cheers Mike I had some sennheisers a few years ago for home use, nice clear sound but Sony good too....hmmmm......decisions True. Sony seems to have raised the benchmark of late. I know the laptop USB speakers are superb. You're gonna have to try both back to back I think. JamesG
I use the Sony MDR-EX90 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Ultimate-EX90LP-headphones-dynamic/dp/B000FKNZOI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1209588439&sr=8-1 Very nice sound and comfortable too. Also a lot cheaper than they used to be (I paid about 70 quid for mine). I tried my old EX71's briefly and they were terrible in comparison. AndrewOW
I bought these for when I was cycling to work, and they sound fabulous, and don't mess your hair up using them either http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-PMX70-Sportline-Neckband-Headphones/dp/B000FJD5IA/ref=pd_sbs_ce_title_9

AndrewOW
But they're fugly But you can wear them all day without getting uncomfortable, and since I got mine 3 of my work colleagues bought some too, as they sound great. I think they're quite dynamic looking actually
Thorin
Yes as Michael say's it depends on your budget, but I'd also say the Sennheiser CX300's... or something in the Shure range. My Shure e3c's are great, they're changed the model range since though.
Guru
I have some Senheiser eH250's for my Ipod and they are awesome. Great sound, comfy and blot out all background noise

Thorin
have tried many. and the best for comfort and quality ive found are the Shure E2C. E?C range discontinued now but might be still available from some places cheap. The SE110 would appear to be the equivalent now http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Products/Earphones/SEModels/us_pa_se110_content

supra_aero
Amazed no-one has mentioned the new noise cancelling bose headphones. Aren't cheap but it cancels background noise and is stunning even when you have no music playing you can use them as electronic ear muffs. http://www.amazon.co.uk/QuietComfort%C2%AE-Acoustic-Noise-Cancelling%C2%AE-headphones/dp/B000GFDC7C/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1209645481&sr=8-6 Not cheap but they sound the BuSiNeSs. Think there are cheaper models and they are as usual much cheaper from the US. And yes, as the reviews say, it cancels background noise so well it sounds like you are underwater listening to music with perfect clarity! michael
The CX300's I mentioned cancel enough noise out as it is and they don't make you look like you are in Dr Who - the Bose ones would probably be rather amazing for home use though.
JustGav
Sennheiser. All the time. Spend as much as you can. They're fantastic. Second that... Sennheiser's consumer stuff used to be fantastic. I've used a few studio ones and they are superb.
