Review: The PS3

Does the lack of damage not bother you Michael. I can't play games that don't have realistic damage, which is why I hardly play driving games any more.......

I lost interst in GT4 on the PS2 as I could bash my way to the front with an inferior car.....:(

Damage would certainly enhance things a great deal but I can cope without it, once I fix the PC I'll have GTR2 and Live for Speed for the realism side of things anyway.

You can't bash your way as much as you used to be able to but last night I was maxed out on a straight and a car identical to mine suddenly got rocket boosters and smashed into the back of me so that was a bit weird. Then an annoying French chap slammed on near the finish line to rob me of a late jump into first. Bit rude :)

I have a "friend" now too so it's all getting rather jolly.

Drop Dead Fred?

You now get penalised if you bash into someone (a little rubbing on the corners is ok), or cut corners, so it's a little better in that respect.

Ring of death, I jumped on the PS3 bandwagon, can't use the controller and loading times :D

I thought that they had sorted the red light problem. I certainly hope so as I'm going shopping for one at the weekend......;)

I don't know to be honest I've been a PS fan since the first one so i'm officially against any other console that tries to compete :D

Bit like BMW and Merc drivers, there will always be bitter rivalry;).

Chelsea is more like Microsoft, all money and little innovation - just forcing their way to the top through money (kinda like Sony ;) ) :) But credit where its due, the X-Box may not be all singing all dancing but its very good value, plus their online service is great.

nothing new since the SNES imho.

I could possibly entertain that notion if you said since the N64 (if you were purely refering to games), but to say that about the game industrys biggest innovator over classics that the N64 offered is just ludicrous and unfounded

I think the Wiis pretty cool, the fact that it's different and like the DS they're bringing out stuff that makes you think and gets you up and active - a good sign for the future to stop all the couch tat kids getting obese eating crisps holding a control pad!

Completely different to the PS3 et al. I'd have a PS3 if I thought I'd use it, but I don't seem to get time, the PS2 hasn't been plugged in for at least a year!! My mate had a 360, that was good fun, I loved Gears of War and Rainbow Six, but it broke, and now he's got a Wii.

Generally speaking that is true, but microsoft have done a lot for videogames. Music on hard disc which can be chosen and played during gaming, xbox live with headsets. Synchronising all that with msn messenger. Turning on and off your console wirelessly with the pad (utter laziness but great convenience). And all the background stuff in xbox live console.

So glad I never went with an Xbox. Friend of mine has suffered the ring of death thing twice now, he's given up on it and gone for a PS3. Also agree with Matts comments on the wii, its a little different and thats the selling point. Love sitting on the sofa palying GTA on the PS, but getting on that wii fit board and going skiing and stuff is great fun, Apart from the odd looks i'd get if anyone was walking past and looked in to see me squating in the living room looking like i'm mid dump on the carpet.

Uh not really. They only bought the companies that did. As they always do and as they always will. Microsoft doesn't really rhyme with inovation IMO.

ive found the ps3 annoying at times! esp call of duty 4 when playing online "connection interupted" or just disconnecting from ps3 store! but that could be due to my wireless! the graphics is good! im a bit annoyed that we're having to wait for games for so many games though! whereas the xbox360 has loads of games out at the mo! thinking about getting rid off the ps3 now though to fund a supra!
