jaymdee
Because when you make turned parts on a lathe the final operation that finishes the part is called "parting off". Aah. Thanks Digsy. I knew it was a proper term, but was searching Google (how sad!!) to try to find where it originated from

jamesmark
do you mean to say he may be the illegitimate offspring of an illegitamate high horse ? Roy No, although I may say you're talking merd, and you're an ass (ass, get it? see what i did there?)
Guest DevilsAdvocate
No, although I may say you're talking merd, and you're an ass (ass, get it? see what i did there?) Where was the "merd" ? A 'Get' or 'Git' are well known parlance. Roy
RedM
You should tell that to RedM. It is quite sad really. (but which way?) Sad is approaching 30 and having poorer spelling than most school kids. FWIW my pet gripe is break/brakes. 'Which breaks should I get for my Supra?' My answer would be 'None! You're too stupid to drive a car'. juanchan
It annoys me when people mix up of and have. "I could of had" v "I could have had" FWIW my pet gripe is break/brakes. 'Which breaks should I get for my Supra?' My answer would be 'None! You're too stupid to drive a car'. Those two bug me as well. My English is far from perfect so I try not to correct others too often.
keancy
Personally I am not that bothered about "of" and "off" or your and you're (I know they are different meanings). What I think is much worse is if someone posts text talk and no punctuation. It makes for very difficult reading and quite often when post like that appear I don't finish reading them. My 2p worth. PS: It is quite sad too, that we have to double check everything before we post incase a spelling error has sneaked in because you just know someone will pick you up on it. None of us are perfect. Ian C
My pet gripe is people doing txt spk or lazy keyboard thumping and then going "waah waah I'm dyslexic" (well, more like "yeh but im am disleksic innit so i cant i be rsed to tipe rite lolol") whereas they are just thick and lazy. I percieve it as being offensive and insulting to those who really are dyslexic - the ones who make an effort and come up with better English than most of us. -Ian PS Percieve? Perceive? Ah cock, I got it wrong

Now now, we need stupid people to breed, where else are we going to get people to work in PC World?!? I think a cull would be a much better idea, you know, thin out the sick and all that.
