ive been in the trade 15 years and my advice...... do not do it. Also if you have a relationship, it will destroy it. This industry is on its ar*e thanks to this goverment. if you want to make money... open a hairdressers or something like that.

what with all this credit crunch rubbish, etc etc people are having less and less disposable income, and its showing at the moment.

If you do decide to do it be prepared for a long hard slog!

my dads got a good mate who used to run a very big club for 10 years and hes given him every advice, besides my dads garage income can still cover the costs of the loan even if there was no income, plus id still be earning good part time in my job. But my dads wants to buy it so i guess i have to stick by him and my brother, who knows if it makes money maybe i could go single:D thats if he buys it

Thats pretty impressive, well done!

Having worked in about 11bars/clubs in the last 2.5years in Glasgow, I'd say Advertising, Location, Public Relations and Market appeal aswell as good management are definitely the most obvious factors in running a successful bar/club

The worst clubs/bars are the ones where the owners come in and play their own Music, dis-regarding regulars requests, and completely change club policy (having not much or an over ambitious change to go forth with)

They usually go under within the first 6months - if that,

As owners of the club - you will get girls yeah, but your going to be everyones friend now - and you better have a lot of space in your phone, door policy dependant:)

AFAIK, if you don't have licensed stewards in your licence remit then you can hire anyone (experienced ofcourse) while they are awaiting their licence(they have to be classed as volunteers:innocent:), otherwise you either hire an agency to sort it out for ya - they charge a lot:rolleyes:, or hire your own licensed stewards but I'm sure either one of you have to go through the SIA course, 3days, waste of money, and un-challenging to even the clueless

Good Luck!!

p.s be very nice to the council and respect your license restrictions, they have the power to shut you down in a flash, and they can be very anal!

yea my brothers doing his course next month and il be doing mine after, the staff and everything are staying there and everything will run as normal but me and my brother have big plans to do things on the days its shut. Also we will be doing more work inside and expanding the dance floor by breaking the wall, seeing as the planning has gone through fine. Its not a bad price for what we are paying for it.
