Ewen
I know there will be some who dont see a problem with this, but I find it hard to get my head round. Preparing your kids for the big bad world ahead, or legalised child abuse...you decide.
Daston
its what some cultures have done for 1000's of years plus some were even worse.
Rayman
The little girl fighting is so unnatural, you can see she doesnt want to fight, being forced to fight by the parents if you ask me.
Havard
Not sure if this is good for the kids! I get the impression that the parents want winners at any cost.... H.
grahamc
The kids in thailand do this purely because its the only chance most of them will have to make some money to live. NO REASON that kids in this day and age should be doing this. If they want to train, fine, sparring - kids choice, but ring fighting is ridiculous. razza
haven't watched thisa yet, recorded it so will watch it tonight. From the trailers for it it looks a bit wrong to me, doing contact fighting at that age....

DaveSupTT
Does anyone know if this iprogram is going to be repeated at all?
supraluke
very interesting to watch but purely over-pushy parents trying to re-live their dreams etc.. quite cringeworthy.
kieren1234
I watched it all and thought it was discussting that the parents allowed/forced/persuaded their children to do that. The little girl didnt want to fight and was obvious, yet her wa£$%r of a dad forced her to do it............
Vaughany
I watched a bit of the program and thought the kids were great, Connor seemed to really enjotyit. My lad has been doing Lau Gar Kungfu since the age of 7 and has entered three tournamnts so far including the nationals. When he fights it is Lau Gar kickboxing which is Semi contact and light continous. They are fully padded up, gloves, shins, footpads and headguards. They can punch and kick to the body and the head. It is semi/light continous but my lad is eight and when he is fighting, him and the opponent can be going full out. It is controlled but can still be brutal. My lad loves it, he is rightly nervous before a fight but he is excited also. It is great for his confidence, sports such as these are great for kids. they install confidence, discipline and a will to win. Unlike your team sports, combat sports is all about you. When you enter the ring etc, everyone is watching you, you have nowhere to hide. You cannot blame your performance on the team, the blame cant be shared - it is all about you. Dont get me wrong. all the swearing etc and go and kill him talks is all unnecessary but for me contact sports/martial arts is better and far more rewarding then your football on saturday morning. razza
just watching this now, wouldn't have minded doing this myself at that age, looks a good crack, but definately shouldn't be forcing the kids to do it like that girls parents, nothing like living your dreams through your kids - tw@ts! the fighting in thailand seemed a bit excessive at that age though:blink:
IDO
They managed to put over a very one sided show of the junior fighting in muay thai in this country.. Yes i belive some of the kids were only doing it due to the parents, but i train kids in the sport at a well known large Muay Thai gym in the SE, and loads do it for the love of it... C4 approached loads of gyms in the uk and i believe many of them (including the one i am at) said they weren't interested as you can see they were looking to make a shock programme.. (which i belive can damage any sport if you have seen the other shows "baby come dancing" and "baby football" or something like that where it seems the parents are pushing kids very hard to carry out their own dreams)... i believe they even asked if one of the parents of our kids could shout more incouragement and advice at them while they were at our gym.. and you can tell how that would be edited on tv!.. We only let kids fight if they want to, and if they are old enough to make up their own mind and have no chance of getting hurt.. The kids from our gym that fight are older than the little girl and boy though.. they are normally 9+.
