AeroMatt
With all this talk of HID conversions I was just wondering. Supposing I got a 5000k kit and then decided I'd rather have an 8000k kit, is it simply a matter of buying 8000k bulbs or would I need different ballasts to drive the 8000k bulbs? Thanks
Terminator
Just change the bulbs, 8000K is very blue/purple. Go 6500K
AeroMatt
Thats good news. I wasn't really sure about 8000k, I've seen conflicting colour charts everywhere and don't know which to believe. Lots of 8000k kits on ebay who claim they're the same as new BMW / Range Rover colour. Thanks for the info anyway, much appreciated.
jason m
Hey Terminator - does that mean that with these dubious group buy kits - we could fit 'your' bulbs - or is it not so simple...

Dont know, I would have thought the connections would be the same, I'll have to unplug one and see, but I do feel another group buy coming on;)

If you walk across the beam on these OEM HID lamps you will see blue /purple at the edges but as you get to the beam center it goes pale blue/white. Aftemarket HID is the same colour across the whole beam and looks better for it IMHO

400BHP
I don't know if you know or not but the VOSA are clamping down on retro-fit HID installations, because they don't have the required auto ranging and headlight washing functions. Retro-fitters beware!
Terminator
I will just swap out for stock bulbs for MOT is it look like it is going to be a problem. BTW my GB on HID kits must end soon, price may be OK on less than ten now due to other items epurchased. PM if interested.
