b.weeks
Hi all, Anyone know if it's possible to set the number of seconds (or minutes) a scramble boost function will work for? Looking to increase boost for say one hot lap without having to change settings on the controller. Cheers, Ben.
Wez
Cant you just have a hi and lo mode, if not the aem boost control has this option if you are running an AEM ECU. The AEM boost control when setup works very very well as you can also configure speed based boost target which will help with traction at lower speeds. Surely if you can have that extra power for one lap you might as well run it for the whole race. Ryan

Ryan I want to push the boost past what might be considered "safe" for my one hot lap (for Time Attack) - or perhaps just the straights for a few seconds. But not run that high boost for the whole session. EDIT: that's what I'm considering anyway ...
Wez
What are the two boost levels we are talking about?
b.weeks
Currently running 1.5bar. But thinking of upping it ... not exactly sure what yet. Depends if I start getting together new engine components for a new engine when it goes bang :-)

I wouldn't run it for a whole lap but use the button for say overtaking. Like the new KERS system in F1 http://gas2.org/2008/04/22/formula-1-racing-to-go-hybrid-from-2009-2013/ That KERS system needs some more reading up - beyond me :-) I couldn't see where you would plug in a scramble boost button into the APEXI unit ... or is one of the buttons for this on the unit? Something on the steering wheel would obviosuly be much better (the manual doesn't really say how you activate the scramble boost function, just how you can set it). Any clues? Where can you buy a compatible button?
Ryan.G
You will need to buy a Push to Make button like one of these http://buy.maplin.co.uk/Free_UK_Delivery/Push_to_Make_Switch_34858_v2.htm Then wire one of the legs to the Orange wire from the AVCR harness and the other leg to the black wire (this wire you need to splice into i.e T in ) Then to setup go into the boost mode you want it to be used in either A or B and then select scramble. If you want to take the boost up to say 1.6bar from 1.4bar at the push of a button then the settings i would use would be BS: +0.20 DT: +3% (set this carefully and make sure the fuel cut on the aem is set correctly and not left at like 2bar) TM: = However long you want it to last Enjoy Ryan
