Explosion - Leeds

Just seems a tad excessive... a ww2 bomb wouldnt take out a mile of land... there would be no London left if that were the case.

In London (or any built up area) there's lots to get in the way of a blast to take the energy out of the explosion. The one at Lowestoft is on the beach - the shock wave can travel a long way over empty space and still have enough energy in it to do damage.

From the news report I've seen, it seems the exclusion zone as a mile wide - i.e. 1/2 a mile in every direction around the bomb.
