Here's a pic of my HID lights.

Taken at 20m then zoomed in to compare with "Terminators "

Hope you don't mind, a good comparison

OS - Normal bulb

NS - HID

Terminators lights

What do think of mine , honest opinions appreciated.

When you put them against the wall you can notice the cut off, when driving I can only see the cut off on the off side.

I would say I've got a marginal improvement but nowhere near as good as I expected. The kerb is lit up pretty well but hardly any improvement looking forward.

When you look at Terminators there's such an obvious difference between the normal bulb and the HID, not with mine!

To be honest they don't seemed to have made much difference, Termi's pic seems to show a dramatic change in the HID side.

It is only a picture but I wouldn't have thought they have changed your driving experience from inside the car by much?

Not impressed TBH

I agree, they're crap!

Like to see the results from others that bought them from the Group buy.

Yeah, that's the word I was looking for!

I just went back over the GB thread and he does do a money back offer although it's with a 15% re-stock, better than nothing but I would be loathed to even pay 15% if they really are this shite!

The reason me and Lightwave didn't take part in that group buy was because of warnings about counterfeit 'Philips' HID kits. TBH, I was tempted to have a set until I saw that lights with K ratings that, as far I can tell, Philips have never made were being advertised. I'm not saying they are fakes but there was enough of the warning signs to put me off.

If they performed well then I wouldn't care if they were fakes (question mark over how long they will last though?).

Having seen the dramatic difference from Termi's photo it seems to point in that direction? I was looking at getting a set of these too!!

Best to wait for more results before we condem though.

I would like to find out if Philips HID bulbs can be identified as being original !

Mine don't have any markings on them at all, just a sticky label on the plastic box.

I think I'll do a bit of research.

i had a close look on one of the bulb, on the bottom there is a laser printed mark with 'use phillips burner'

i am very interested and welcome with any comments on those hid's, are they not bright enough or whats missing in the kit that this kit does not have? or is it the colour of the bulb is not what u expected?

this is the one i have installed before

I cannot see any markings on mine! Surely there would be some on original Philips parts.

No problems fitting the kit to the car.

I was expecting them to be much brighter than they are though.

Alex, I've just done a bit of research and have found a useful website.

Philips do not make the HID bulb with a 9006 fitting.

They are manufactured with a fitting that only allows them to be used in HID lenses and are not for replacing the halogen bulb with a HID one like we want to do.

Very interesting, have a good read, look at -

" How to recognize the real Philips Ultinon HID bulb from a clone? "- click on the pic.

I can’t believe how much brighter my lamps look in the two photos in this thread.

I'll try and get some pics of beam cut off against a dark wall. The cut off is brilliant, a very shape line. It needs it, as they are so bright they would dazzle if there was any gradual flare. The side of the road illumination is very good too. As I have said before I have 130/100 bulbs in one of my other cars. My new HID dipped beams are much better than those. I can’t fault them, for safety my next best mod to UK brakes and RLTC, night driving is now a pleasure as I can see everything.

I don’t care about warm up I am going main beam next. If they do fogs I’ll have those as well.

If anyone wants to see my dipped beams at night, in action let me know as the camera just can’t do them justice.

Just for reference this is the beam pattern. Absolutly no flare. I used to get flashed with my stock JDM lights when my MOT tester wound therm up to the top of the MOT limit for me, but i still could not see where I was going. I have only beem flashed once since fitting the HID and I think that was because the guy caught the NS high edge of the beam as I came out of a corner.

I think garage doors are too reflective to be of any use when taking pics of lights.

got HID from S****store a couple of years ago.. 8000K, and they have run just fine, no problems.. and they make driving at night a pleasure.. you can see cats eyes for hundreds of yards and roadside signs are really well lit.... as mentioned earlier, they are a great safety addition.

Cheers for the pic Terminator, how close are you to the wall?

Your beam pattern looks fairly high.

Those of you that also got your HID kits from the recent group buy, when are you going to get them fitted so we can make a few comparisons. :stickpoke

You don't have to fit them in permanently, it would only take half an hour or so to get them working!

The front of the car was slightly raised and tilted to the NS due to a tarmac bump under OS front, I guess about 10 feet from the wall, I did not take much notice. You can plug and play in a few minutes the hardest part is getting the bulbs in and out.
