Daston
Hi guys Just changed from BT to sky for broadband. Had no problems with BT but sky seems to keep dropping for a past time and as both me and the misses enjoy our online games its becoming a bit of a joke. Anyone else have these kind of problems? tomgeer
I've stuck with BT because for that very reason, they are always reliable even if not the cheapest
Daston
I've stuck with BT because for that very reason, they are always reliable even if not the cheapest the reason I left BT was due to a £75 charge for going over my download allowance. They didnt even tell me I had gone over it, I mean how are you meant to keep a tab on it??
tomgeer
really, I've always received warnings from them about exceeding my limit but they have never charged me, If thats the case I don't blame you, I would go else where too, £75? the cheeky b*stards
MaveriK
i am with sky and, touch wood, have not had that kind of service. Report it to them.
Pabs
With sky at the moment - no issues whatsoever, but I only have a 2MB connection, not sure what their faster service is like.
MrRalphMan
I'm on the 'upto' 16mbps service, due to line issues I'm throttled to 8mbps, but it's pretty stable. How long have you had it? Can take 10 days for it to settle down. What router did you get, the Netgear Sky gave me was pants, using my own Netgear (same model) and it's loads better. Still for £10 a month, it's pretty damn good.. I'm averaging 150GB a month, how much did you use before BT charged you?
Pabs
good point - the white netgear unit sky gave was useless - they changed model to a black unit (can't remember model #) which I have and it is much better.
ward1955
I threatened BT with going to Sky, and they gave me the same deal as Sky to keep me!

OOOO I am in the process of moving from pipex (utter utter useless shower of poo poo that lot are) to sky. I will be using my own router though so hopefully I won't get any problems. And sky only have to beat a consistent 100k connection to be better than pipex so not really that high a target to exceed
Daston
I got the black netgear router, however I am planning on getting a fast belkin router at somepoint. No idea what sort of bandwidth I use, however do download a few games for back up's lol
CarlT67
I've had sky internet over a year now, still using the white netgear box with no issues. I have had to reset it a few times (turn it on and off) but apart form that nothing really. If you are experiencing problems with the box then you can upload the original software onto it that netgear made rather than using the sky software which is often the cause of the issues. Wez
Skynet! You may joke but the real Skynet went live last year and more sats are being added this year. From memory its a new secure high bandwidth military network for controlling UAVs and killbots. I am sure some googling will explain more
Daston
yep its funny how mankind ignors all the "what if films" I mean have they not seen I Robot, Matrix, Terminator and the many many many other films where our creations kill us? Wez
Killbots are already being used and have taken human life, although there is still someone at the controls for the time being. http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2007/10/30/reaper_first_kill/
