i put a set of 17" stock wheels on the car this weekend. its the first time ive driven my car with stock wheels (it came with 17" tsw venoms) and the difference is bloody amazing. firstly the handling is much better, more positive, not twitchy on the limit, doesnt require any little corrections at high speeds on mway straights. secondly the ride is much improved, trams alot less, smoother over rough surfaces and not as skippy. thirdly, braking seems to have improved??. generally the car is alot more composed. this brings me to the fourth point, looks. now this is where the improvements stop improving. ive had chance to get used to them now and they dont look as bad as i first thought they did, but i cant help thinking they could look better with a new coloured refurb, they r in very good silver alloy condition at the moment (cheers dean). the thing is i cant find anything that does look any better, ive done loads of photoshop mockups and none look any better, many look alot worse. anyone seen any good imaginative refurbs on the stock wheel? btw my car is silver. any advise would b appreciated (xcept get some expensive split rim blitz 18's - i have no more money, so the missus tells me!).

ps i had never imagined those aftermarket's had (/could have) messed things up as much as they did.

Take off the wheel nut covers and paint them gold (the cover thats is), it will look cool with the rest of the alloy being silver and gold goes well with a silver car. I've recently bought some Blitz Gold Z1 alloys and they look amazing.

The original alloys do work well with the supra, it would make sense as this was what it was designed with, so the handling and performance was based on the original alloys.

Saying that my new 18" Blitz alloys also work just as well.

Are both sets of wheels exactly the same size (i.e. width)?

What tyres do you have on each set?

These are factors which would affect the handling!

Just a thought!

the tsw's r 17x8" front and rear with so2's 245/40/17

the stock wheels r running s02 front and so3 rears.

rear traction has obviously improved (not too much of a problem with stock engine, but quite a problem after decat on the tsw's). i think the major factor to the differences i have experienced is the offset (i know this has changed), and also the weight (not checked this but the tsw's didnt feel too heavy).

ill work out the exact offset difference and let u know what it was.
