francis
Hi there guys, Just wanted a little bit of advice.... I was in the car (luckily the smart) with my girlfriend driving and we were stuck at some lights. We were in front of a Skoda Octavia which in turn was in front of a tow truck. The tow truck didn't seem to be moving so quite suddenly the Skoda decided to reverse in to the front of our car (hitting it and damaging the front bumper) and then proceeded to drive off. Now obviously this is pretty annoying! We called up the police when we got back but apparently this is classed as an "accident" and is not something they deal with and should be taken up with insurers. The damage isn't that bad, and to be honest it probably isn't worth going through insurance but I really hate to have to pay to fix this and let that driver get away with it... Should the police at least get in touch with this person, or is there any way for me to do so? Cheers, Francis

Vicky
you can go through his insurance via your insurance. he shouldnt of left the scene, hope he doesnt say you drove into the back of him
Burble Burble
If he caused it and left the scene, you need to get your neck pains checked pretty quick and call a lawyer.
Homer
Thats odd that the police weren't interested, leaving the scene of an accident is an offence last time I heard! Maybe one of our 'local' law enforcement bods could advise here
cossack
if they drove off i cant see why it isnt a police matter, dont pay for it yourself as its not your fault, go through the ins company and claim of his insurance, it should only affect his insurance. Al Massey
3 points for leaving the scene of an accident 3 points for failing to report an accident so yeah the police should be interested as it is the law
AlexM
I'd give the police another ring, leaving the scene of an accident is very naughty! Since you got his reg number there should be little issue with going through insurance, unless the chap denies it.. I don't suppose the tow truck driver saw what happened did he? miko_supra
yup call them again and see if you can get through to a decent police officer. Thats rather annoying, do you reckon the person actually noticed they had done it or was it an obvious "leg it!"

How did he reverse into the front of you if you were in front of him???
Pig
I would see if an accident management company can help. Might be difficult with no witness statement. Call Caroline Howes on 0808 156 7780 - tell her Jon Hudd has asked if she can help you
fri3ndly
If he caused it and left the scene, you need to get your neck pains checked pretty quick and call a lawyer. He fled the scene of an accident he called. Something shouts out 'guilty' there. He could have caused you a serious injury so I believe this is pretty serious. Go to the doctors and get examined for whiplash Maybe see if there are any CCTV cameras around the area and request footage from that time to help with YOUR investigation seeing as the Police were too busy fighting real crime. Good luck
Havard
3 points for leaving the scene of an accident 3 points for failing to report an accident so yeah the police should be interested as it is the law You seem to have overlooked the fact that the Police are fooking useless unless there is money to be made!! stevie_b
How did he reverse into the front of you if you were in front of him??? I was confused by that at first. I think francis got the order of cars mixed up: I think it was the skoda in front of him, and he was in front of the truck.
