Chris Wilson
Legal? Possible with a digital camera and a laser jet colour printer? How do you size them correctly? Thanks. Being in the sticks means a passport photo booth is light years away
supra_aero
I think so long as it is the correctsize and obviously clear and your hair, shoulder position etc. meets the correct guidelines I don't see why not. Must say on the passport form doesn't it? Have you checked home office website?
SatSport
Yes i done that with my new passport. Make sure you`ve a light or white background and good photo paper. I had to faff about to get the correct size though.........
Ewen
Have a read of this Chris. http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/apply-photos-standards.asp Good luck, I tried and failed DIY. What looked fine to me were sent back by them... Just a thought, are you applying by post or going to a passport office in person ? If you are going to an office, they will have a photo booth there on site.

CJ
For the sake of a few £'s it's not worth the hassle IMHO.
colsoop
Most tescos have a photo booth. I had some taken recently so if the dimensions of the photo help: top to bottom 45mm left to right 35mm
Chris Wilson
Thanks, I think it's worth the journey to a photo booth, sounds like a lot of hassle with potential pitfalls as I am applying by post. Bureaucracy and I rarely get on, so I won't push my luck

JamesG
If you wear glasses, take them off! My photo got rejected because I had a tiny reflection in the corner of one lens. And that photo was taken by a proper booth.
L33
when my mum got a passport pic done, she payed £7 for the post office to give it the all clear to make sure it was all ok, the passport ppl stil sent it back and said the back groud was slightly wrong colour. so even if u pay to get it checked its stil wrong! LOL
RedM
Many photo booths will actually tell you if the picture just taken is passport-friendly and give you the chance to take another if not.
colsoop
I renewed my passport recently and had it returned within 10 days which i thought was pretty good.
Supra Pilot
Funny enough just today I got my 2 kids passports renewed... The best part of £127. Chris don't take the chance bud, get it done correctly as they are extremely fussed over the photos now and will reject it for the simplist thing. 9/11 thank you! steb9780
Chris, I can see you being like a bloke from works, next door neighbour, he is about 65, resident here from birth but never had a passport. So he had to attend a full-on interview about why he hadn't had a passport and all of a sudden he needed one. Now I am not being racist here, but he wasn't impressed as it was an asian chap interviewing him.
Supradoopa
You have to have it done on a neutral grey background with 1:1 lighting ratio plus the dimensions of the face to canvas have to be precise. No white paper whatsoever I know i've done loads of passport photographs and had a few come back because they were a couple of mm's out on the distances between the top of the head and the edge of the print. In my opinion the photo booth is the easiest option, just a bu**er that you have to travel for it Chris
Charlotte
Feather Boas are a no no I think.
Pete
It's a PITA, but you have to get proper passport booth photos done. Quite why I've no idea considering they're nearly all digital anyway.
