michael
Good day to you, do any of you recognise the make / model of this wastegate? http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/turbos/twins/big-twins-13.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/turbos/twins/big-twins-12.jpg I have a pair of them on my bespoke IHI "big twins" setup but I can't see any markings on them to indicate what make they might be, does anyone recognise them? The Apexi "Isamu" kit uses these turbos on other cars comes with the Apexi Racing Wastegates but I'm not sure if these have been changed / are older versions / something else completely. http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/turbos/twins/big-twins-09.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/turbos/twins/big-twins-08.jpg I've googled and looked through some old HyperRev mags but haven't found anything similar as yet, I need to take a pic of the top really, I seem to have missed it when I had the camera out. Chris Wilson
They are old Apexi units. Had one on my Skyline until it cracked, replaced it with a Greddy one.
michael
Cheers Chris, always a supplier of joy but with that twist of potential doom thrown in
Chris Wilson
Well they do crack, most of them do it eventually, it's also hard to find a stock turbo housing that's not got some heat cracks around the wastegate port. Cheap cast iron and heat cycling in the red hot region = eventual cracking I expect the Greddy one will have some seat cracks if i strip it. michael
The Supraforums massive seem to think they might be old HKS ones.
Ryan.G
Im 98% sure they are apexi. Seen them a few times on imported cars i have mapped. The new versions of them are very similar in shape but they moved the Top port right to the top of the can to reduce issues with boost spiking which was common on the old design. But i must say the blitz's are very similar http://www.ooparts-international.co.jp/index/car/listbybrand/blitz/wastegate/index.html Ryan
