grahamc
Anyone on here do the time trials and etc? 4 minutes 16 minutes 2000m 5000m etc? So far my best is 1080m in 4 minutes and 3670 in 16 minutes. Just cannot believe how 4 minutes on a rower absolutely KILLS you. My first attempt at 4 minutes was 1033 and I felt like throwing up afterwards. Whats your times? juanchan
I used to be able to do 2km in 7 mins when I was in my teens, but I'm back nearer 7:50-8 mins now
Vaughany
I use to use these quite alot when I was training and competing in my chosen sport. Best times were 7.20 for 2000 metres and 19.40 for 5000m. Not bad considering at this time I weighed under 71kg and am only 5feet 6". Try 500metres reps, this is great as an a intense aerobic session, 500m between 1.30 - 2minutes then 2 minutes rest, repeat 5 times - KILLER. Tip - the key when using these is long powerful strokes, explode in the pull and slow in the recovery, do not bend your knees on the recovery until the arms are straight with the hands passed the knees. grahamc
Hmmm... I like the idea of these short burst, flat out, rest and repeat. Good practise! Should be knackered in 3 minutes max!
grahamc
Ok, follow up time... I want to get to 1150 and 1200 meters in 4 minutes. I only do the 4 minute challenge once a week. What should I be doing during the week? I am going to starting going to gym in the mornings for 20 minutes (small amount of cardio), then cycle to work (5 miles), cycle home (5 miles), then gym again in the evenings (normally squash and 10 - 15 minutes rowing). Any suggested training plans? Not just row for 20 minutes...
