UK TT cams in Jap TT engine...

The more I think about fitting NA cams to a TT engine the more stupid I think it is, an NA cam is designed to work on an NA engine, which has totally different requirements duration wise, now I may be wrong but im pretty sure that Toyota spent quite a few ££££££ developing both the NA and TT cams, now im pretty sure if they could have they would have used one generic cam, but thats just me.

Now fitting it may gain 10hp for a moment as a peak number but that means nothing unless you want pub bragging rights, as an example we have been working on a MR2 Turbo, guy was moaning about power, wants everything on the cheap etc etc, we had the turbo checked at CR because it would not hold boost, it made 280 and fell away, while it was there i tried to get him to let them hybrid it, because they said its fine he would not, we refit the turbo and he picks car up, big bill, he comes back moaning saying it does not feel very quick, stupid me feels sorry for him and offers a cheap labour rate and tells him to get the turbo hybridised, which he does, it now makes 310 but holds that to redline, we call him and tell him that and it feels good on the road and he starts whinging that he wanted 350 and it was all a waste of time, he comes up getting all lemon etc etc, pays, with me saying if your not impressed come back and i'll refund the labour but I never want to see you again!!!! Next day he re-appears, big smile and a crate of beer as a thank you!!!!

Moral is its not so much the amount of HP a car makes, its how and for how long its delivered.

right im off to whittle a cam out of an old pallet.
