Masenko
Hi guys, I'm in a pickle. Basically, my road tax ran out at the end of last month, and I opted to put off renewing it until now. However, I was going through my papers, and only just realised that my MOT was overdue...what can I do? Obviously I can't drive it to the garage to have it MOT'd..and I can't buy road tax without an MOT certificate!! What are my options? Thanks C
ShamelessTT
Dont you have the road tax renew form? the one you can do on the web without them seeing ur MOT? thats how i always do mine comes next day.

hiten55
"officially" you have to get it trailered. but as anja says "if its close by....". although a mate of mine did this. he got stopped because his car was covered in dirt (as he hadnt driven it for months). they did him for no mot, no road tax (as he didnt have the mot to get it), no insurance (was invalid due to lack of mot), and bald tyres (muppet). went to court (no option of fixed penalty), got 6 points and a massive fine. then the court sent off his licence but they lost it, so when he next got stopped (for speeding i believe) he got a failure to produce and another 3 points and a fine.# but he's always been unlucky.... Konrad
If your car is booked for MOT you can drive there and back after MOT without tax.

RiceRocket
I already declared it SORN, will this be a problem? Just don't drive it again until you're going to the garage for its MOT and thus will be able to get the road tax, and in the meantime you have a park it off the road. AndyT
Thanks for the responses so far, you guys are really helpful. I already declared it SORN, will this be a problem? C If you declared it SORN you're legal. Book you're MOT drive it down and get it done. Then tax it, which wil remove the SORN.
