Chris Wilson
I need to fly cheap day return to Belfast soon, from either Manchester or Liverpool. Not being a well travelled chap (I'm just a country bumpkin), I don't know what documentation airlines expect these days, what would I be expected to have (my passport has been missing for years, and no doubt expired long ago). I can't use my driving licence as I have just found it's still showing an address I left years ago..... Shotgun certificate OK? It has a recent sealed photo of me on it and I had to prove all sorts to get it. Thanks.

Chris Wilson
Will they notice the address is wrong? It's the old type, no photo or anything.
Ric
Passport! It's part of the UK. Why would you need a passport? you dont, for domestic flights a driving licence is enough, but if you dont have one, a passport is also good enough Its just a shame chris has nither Chris photographic id is required so it would need to be the new type card i dont think the older version is anygood
MARTIN R
Passport! It's part of the UK. Why would you need a passport? passport is not required but specific photo ID is. Address should match ticket details etc

Chris Wilson
That should be OK, I don't need to go for about 2 weeks. I'll read the forms tomorrow, thanks
Chris Wilson
I go to London quite a lot actually sadly my experiences outside of the UK are just France and Beirut, but the latter was quite an experience!

Ewen
Im afraid you cant get a passport using the fast track same day service unless you have the old one. If the old one is lost, it will take around a week to get a new one. "Premium same-day service.... This service is not available if you are applying for a first passport, a full / total name change to your existing passport, extension to a passport, or to replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport" Urgent applications covered here... http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/apply-urgent.asp

Chris Wilson
This has got me thinking. I am going to look at a litter of pups to reserve one, but 3 weeks later I need to go again and bring one back. Now a bloke from the pub is fortunate enough to have a small private plane, and he's offered to fly me there and back, so I don't have to either drive and use ferries, or stick a pup in the aircraft hold in a crate. I haven't considered what I might need going in a private plane, ID wise. Can you just get out in NI and mooch off an airstrip with no hassle?? I really should have found out a lot more well before now
Havard
You can get one from Liverpool within a week (fast tracked)... H.
damientt
It must be one hell of a mutt to justify a private charter Which part of Northern Ireland do you plan to visit?
Chris Wilson
Just outside Belfast apparently http://www.moncherkennels.com The private plane is a freebie job (don't ask, it's complicated... )
Homer
As NI is part of the UK, surely a passport isn't required? Just the normal ID? I've flown to scotland and even wales and not once was asked for a passport, only ID (drivers license did the job, though it needs to match home address). Have the regulations changed? Best give your charter company a call Chris, I'm sure they can clarify it right away
damientt
The dog on the Web site picture is brute ugly. Whatever turns you on I suppose :) I know I wouldn't fancy getting into a small plane with anything bigger than a chihuahua. Out of interest ... can you just turn up, buy a dog, stick it into a plane and fly it back to England?
Lee P
If you land on a private or small air strip you wont need any ID at all. The pilot will log a flight plan and put you down as the passenger
merckx
I haven't considered what I might need going in a private plane Parachute? I think it's best to check with the airline who you'll be flying with. I took my mother over to Belfast a couple of years ago when I picked up my van, she didn't have a passport - we flew with easyJet. I think you just need photographic ID.
