Need to fly to N Ireland. ID expected?

I need to fly cheap day return to Belfast soon, from either Manchester or Liverpool. Not being a well travelled chap (I'm just a country bumpkin), I don't know what documentation airlines expect these days, what would I be expected to have (my passport has been missing for years, and no doubt expired long ago). I can't use my driving licence as I have just found it's still showing an address I left years ago..... Shotgun certificate OK? It has a recent sealed photo of me on it and I had to prove all sorts to get it. Thanks.

Passport! It's part of the UK. Why would you need a passport?

you dont, for domestic flights a driving licence is enough, but if you dont have one, a passport is also good enough :)

Its just a shame chris has nither :(

Chris photographic id is required so it would need to be the new type card i dont think the older version is anygood

Im afraid you cant get a passport using the fast track same day service unless you have the old one. If the old one is lost, it will take around a week to get a new one.

"Premium same-day service....

This service is not available if you are applying for a first passport, a full / total name change to your existing passport, extension to a passport, or to replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport"

Urgent applications covered here...

This has got me thinking. I am going to look at a litter of pups to reserve one, but 3 weeks later I need to go again and bring one back. Now a bloke from the pub is fortunate enough to have a small private plane, and he's offered to fly me there and back, so I don't have to either drive and use ferries, or stick a pup in the aircraft hold in a crate. I haven't considered what I might need going in a private plane, ID wise. Can you just get out in NI and mooch off an airstrip with no hassle?? I really should have found out a lot more well before now :(

As NI is part of the UK, surely a passport isn't required? Just the normal ID? I've flown to scotland and even wales and not once was asked for a passport, only ID (drivers license did the job, though it needs to match home address).

Have the regulations changed?

Best give your charter company a call Chris, I'm sure they can clarify it right away

The dog on the Web site picture is brute ugly. Whatever turns you on I suppose :) :)

I know I wouldn't fancy getting into a small plane with anything bigger than a chihuahua. Out of interest ... can you just turn up, buy a dog, stick it into a plane and fly it back to England?

Parachute?

I think it's best to check with the airline who you'll be flying with.

I took my mother over to Belfast a couple of years ago when I picked up my van, she didn't have a passport - we flew with easyJet.

I think you just need photographic ID.
