Guest _Olly_
Nobody said you couldn't but I classed myself as inexperienced when I bought mine. Even though I had been driving 7 years. As I had no experience whatsoever in driving this type of car. Even my insurance was higher due to this. The bloke at Sky said this. im just stating my point. i will probably only go for a single turbo anyway. dont want to put all my eggs in one basket to start with Not saying you cant drive. Just saying its a big leap so go steady especially in the wet if you do get one. ill be careful dont you worry How'd you manage that,Whats the secret? 1.8 Corsa insurance group 9, UK supra 19, think imports the same, I'd make double sure you weren't quoted for a mk 3 dont know what the secret is lol. just what its coming up with. corsa is insurance group 9 and it will cost me more insure that than a supra. deffo mark iv

steb9780
i thought a twin turbo would be more?? or is there too much lag?? No there is less with the stock twin setup, but as somebody just explained above. Singles are used more for big power to replace the stock twin setup. I love the stock setup, plenty of low down torque. The Supra is only available in the Twin Turbo and the non-turbo imitator.
juanchan
ah right, cheers for clearing that up. im only looking at it as a possiblity for havent properly looked into every aspect. insurance was the first as with looking at any car! I'd be very surprised if that quote of £1100 was for a mk4 J-spec car tbh. UK spec maybe, mk3 maybe, as both are cheaper to insure. We've got members on here your age who have difficulty in finding insurance, let alone getting change from £2-3k.
AgtX80
Id read the FAQ about the supra first & go from there. Unless its one of these guys cars on the forum youre looking at, id steer well clear of any single turbo supras with no history. Look at a photo of a stock twin turbo engine bay & then look at a single turbo conversion bay Im guessing your quote is without any mods & a good immobiliser/tracker. If you dont want loads of stick from the turbo owners on this forum, get a turbo one lol. Good luck finding a manual version.

There's a fairly hefty difference between 230bhp through the fronts and 320 through the rears. Some of my mates have that sort of power through the fronts and still can't get over the performance of the Supra in stock form. Although they do get 30+mpg
bluecoup
someone asked the the other day what mpg i get, all i could reply was, that i feed it when its hungry, if i thought about how much it ate i'd never drive it, who you getting insurance from ? i cant see a supra being cheaper than a corsa ? johnny g
I can ... if the Corsa has a load of mods and the supra is standard, I can see it being cheaper.

Harps
My daily drive is an Astra VXR. The difference between the two cars is incredible - I can bung the Astra into corners with few worries thanks to FWD and lots of clever gizmo's to keep grip. The Supe has nothing like it. The Supe would p*ss all over the VXR though I would double check that it is a mkiv they are quoting you on, I know Direct Line messed up with that and quoted me on a mkIII. It was only when I asked them to confim it and they gave the wrong production years that it became obvious.
