Guest reflex
what i should of maybe asked is, would it be worth doing a decat keeping the standard exhaust in place as its quite restrictive? would i gain anything bhp wise, and would i still need a restrictor ring. thanks. Tbh reflex if i were you, i would buy a cat back system exhaust i.e lets say a blitz nur spec R and then decat it. But if you want to decat her with your standard exhaust, go for a 2nd decat as it would be much safer and you still get a power gain. I would only go for the 1st decat once your turbos have been uprated because of the problems like overspeed of the turbos when driving and can be or is uncontrollable. I just found this out the other day, i was going to go for a double until i was aware of the problems...so im going for a 2nd decat on my '98 vvti TT until my engine work gets underway. Edit: You only need a restrictor ring for double decatting not for the 2nd decat. However, i would recommend that if are going to decat, purchase some oval exhaust gaskets otherwise it could be tricky to fit them or play up later... Chris Wilson
You won't need a restrictor ring with a stock system. You can safely remove both cats. You won't feel the full effect until you chage to a different exhaust though. Tanabe Medallion Touring is very quiet and un-restrictive.
