MichaelG
I was given a 1991 H-Reg Fiesta for nothing a couple of weeks ago.......the car itself is a very good runner, uses no oil or water, and never breaks down. The paintwork is very flat and non polishable (white) and a couple of small sections of rust on the arches, but nothing major. Had it in for an MOT and it needs new discs and pads at front........(£45) and a lower nearside suspension arm (£23) and also a very small section welded on the lower nearside sill (been quoted (£40) So all in including the MOT cost its going to cost me £148 to get through an MOT and on the road. I dont want the car, but it seems a shame to scrap it when it needs so little.........and its an excellent runner. The interior is also mint. Is it worth MOT'ing though ? I mean i was gonna do that and then advertise it with a years MOT for sale as a first car for someone, or a runaround for £250. Makes me £100 for my effort. All the buyer would have to do is tax it and away they go......... Anyone think its worth doing ? Or will i be making a loss expecting that much ? or could i get more for a car with a full new years MOT ? Michael
Jake
for £100 profit I wouldn't bother but OTOH any car with a full ticket has got to be worth at least £400. Especially seeing as a little car like a Fiesta is fairly cheap to insure and should be easy to sell to someone looking for a first car. Supragal
dunno about £400 for a fiesta just because it has a ticket. surely not? ask tbourner if he wants it?
Steve W2
Yeah, i dunno about £400, but certainly £200 - £250 sounds reasonable.
Jake
dunno about £400 for a fiesta just because it has a ticket. surely not? ask tbourner if he wants it? A year's motoring for maximum £400 depreciation? Sounds alright to me. I don't think Trev will want to drive to Scotland for a Fiesta though! tbourner
Yeah I was thinking the same, I'd be willing to pay about £300 for that (no tax), but not if it's way up north!!!
Supragal
it's only a fiesta- stick a stamp on it and take it to the post box

MichaelG
it's only a fiesta- stick a stamp on it and take it to the post box LOL only you could come up with something like that I would need to have it signed for on delivery though, u know what royal mail are like ! ha ha Think am gonna go for it and see what happens, its not a Supra, but its certainly too good to scrap. Anyone want a feesty with a years MOT for £250 ?? lol
Need4Speed
dunno about £400 for a fiesta just because it has a ticket. surely not? As long as it's got a small engine (1.1 or 1.3 at most) it will sell as a first car for 17/18 year old student type. Otherwise it's too expensive to insure. I sold one a while back for £350. Supragal
I've been looking at cars all week and for a Fiesta of that age and condition they're going for around £200-£300 max, at least around here! Escorts K/L reg, 1.4 ghias with 75k on the clock FSH really clean etc are round the £600 mark so I'd say you were right on the £100 profit Micheal. Did you do it in the end anyway?
