Seb
Opened it up as I was having some burning issues, started fiddling on screen, swung round on my chair to get something and knocked the try with my leg. It kind of jumped out a bit so I pushed it back in and now it won't close Looks like something's out of alignment as when I try pushing it closed by the DVD spindle looks like it's rising too early and hitting part of the tray. Any advice (apart from buy a new drive)? It's a Dell but I doubt there's any point calling them for help.
Scott
Ok, if its lined up correctly laterally you just have to cross your fingers and give it a shove. Basically you need to let it jump the teeth of the gear to bet it back into the correct position. One of 2 things will happen... 1 Broken Drive 2 Working Drive Personally i've never seen the downside as i have assumed it would be broke anyway. Regardless its a maximum of £20 to replace one of these nowadays. 20x DVD-RW's go for around £18. Good Luck Scott =op

DamanC
Just checked, its the same as one I supplied the other week for a client. BR player not BR writter, I would have been making a bulk order with you guys Pete
Pete
Isnt that just a BR player and a DVD Writter rather than an actual BR writter? NOT a blue writer, just a DVD writer - you're correct. Sorry, I didn't mean that to be misleading. I didn't realise blu writers had come down so much in price! That LG one is actually quite cheap then. Media cost a fortune last time I looked though. supra_aero
Seb I might have one lying around. Failing that, I can pick one up from the weekly Stratford computer fair on weekend for a few pounds and come around and install it for you, and you can let me have those uk brakes you have lying around as a trade
