brians25
is it possible for the auto box to slip as when i hit the kickdown the engine revs rise by about 2k but the car doesn't get any faster for about 2 secs or so an then off it goes .its almost the same feeling as you get when the clutch is starting to slip in a manual
tDR
Yes the clutch bands wear and you can get slip. Have you checked your autobox fluid level? When's the last time it was changed - if it looks brown and smells burnt it's probably too late for your box. The good news is that 2nd hand autoboxes go on here for around £250 so won't exactly break the bank! Cheers, Brian.

I had this and despite people saying it was the VSV's and other nonsense it did turn out to be the box. A refurbed box sorted the problem.

jamesmark
if it comes to it i'll ditch the auto an source myself a manual box from somewhere, It is not as simple as that I am afraid, to go manual it will set you back at least £2k-£2.5k. Thats after you beat eaveryone to buying one as they are very desireable.

GoliathJay
£250 for the box but how much on top for the fitting of it? wood shavings? A lot of american dealerships used to fill slipping boxes with woodshaving so on test drives they would work, but not for long!

AgtX80
i have similar symptoms, the car was serviced before i bought it, the fluid is pink, maybe the stuff they drained out was the stinky burnt stuff. It doesnt always slip so i will put up with it for a bit.
