Cars you've crashed?

Oh dear...

VW Passat - Had it up on two wheels after clipping a corner, came down a bit hard but was still okay (Same as homer, 90degree 40mph crap)

VW Golf Mk1 - Not my fault, police drove into the back of me at a set of traffic lights (I got charged with dangerous driving, stood in court and asked how considering I was stationary at a set of red lights how I was at any fault..case dropped)

Audi Quattro - My dad's... borrowed it to take the girlfriend out in the country, it burst into flames (Turned out to be a dodgy relay, and with the battery under the backseat resulted in the wiring loom shorting out and melting the rest of the insulation and causing a VERY large short), my mother was less than impressed as she wanted to use the car the next day.

BMW e36 320i - My dad's (AGAIN :)), and as it turns out it was the replacement for the Audi, and only had 100km's on the clock when I took it out to go get pizza, and came over the top of a hill to sudden see some idiot in a car pulling out of a t-junction. Struck it hard on the door as I tried to aim for an escape sliproad, thankfully I had turned so avoided a tbone incident, and rather shoved him up the road a bit and parked the car on the kurb...in the process taking out the wing, radiators, wheel, brake, steering rack, suspension, aircon..So my dad was a little annoyed given that I had pretty much written off two cars in two weeks...

BMW M3 E36 - The big one... this is the one accident that REALLY hurt.. rolled an M3 round the top of the hairpin at kayalmi, just before the mineshaft. Top'n'tail rolled the car three times, and then it did the usual 5 rolls. OUCH I think was the phrase I used a few days later... broken ankles and legs, top of the windscreen came thru the helmet bit of facial damage. Was a pity, as the car had just been setup by BMW motorsport and was in fantastic shape, and caused a bit of a career change.

Peugeot 106 - Similar to other stories, went out for a burn, hacking it round the backroads with some enthusiasm and discovered that a) a jeep cherokee and a pug don't fit down a narrow country lane b) jeep cherokee's are a lot higher and tougher than a little 106 :)

Christ Gav, sounds like you could break an iron ball....:D

Mine!

Ford Fiesta 1.1 (17). Two lanes of traffic at a set of lights but the inside lane was much shorter that the outside. A woman flashed a guy a Toyota Carina through a gap in the outside lane and he got t-boned by me coming down the inside. It was funny really. I had only been driving 8 weeks and the 60 year old in the Toyota blamed me. His witness, who also blamed me was the woman who flashed him through when I was coming down the inside of her. Luckily a passing motorist backed me up and I got paid out. You should have seen this old fossils face when he said "I've been driving 40 years, I know who's fault this is? I (at 17) replied "You have just crossed a lane of moving traffic without right of way you daft old c*nt!:)

Austin Maestro Van (18) New van, less than 200 miles on it. First time my firm had bought a brand new van too....:innocent: Went to Warrington on a job, got to a big roundabout near the M62. Brand new Rover 820 in front of me pulled out. I looked at the traffic and thought I can go too. Tosser in front had stalled and I tw@tted his new car. Looking through the windscreen his Rover had no damage, got out and looked at the Van............ooh not good....:D

Cavalier Sri (19) Used to go to a night club with a few mates and we took turns driving. I went round a 90 degree bend at silly speed near J27 of the M6, the back end of the car came out and I controlled it like a pro. One of the lads in the back said "Fook me, this boy can drive". A week later, taking another mate and his bird home tried the same trick and binned it into a crash barrier......:(

Cavalier LX (20) The biggie! Me and Mrs H were meant to go away on a tour of the UK. We hired some videos the night before and were just about to set out on our epic journey. I decided to take the videos back before we left. Got 1 mile down the road and saw a Fiat Uno at the junction about 300 yards away. No traffic around but it didn't pull out. Got within 100 yards and the car still hadn't moved. Got with 10 yards and some daft old b!tch pull out......:( Luckily I swerved and hit her car at the bottom of the A pillar. The Uno was a complete banana with 4 people inside, we couldn't get them out at first as all the doors were stuck as the car was that badly bent. The Cav was a write off with the bonnet well and truely stuck up against the windscreen! All I remember is seeing the white front grill go flying vertically up in the air about 20 feet. I got out of the car, picked up the front grill and threw it at the Uno saying, well that's my holiday fooked...:D

This crash did a lot of damage to my back and subseqently led to a change of career.....:D

Last One!

Renault Laguna 2.0 (28) My son Ellis had been born 8 days before. Our first trip out in the car with our new baby. I was taking him to my works to show him off. Usually I would get on the M61 and get in the outside lane at about 85 - 90 leps. With the newborn in the car I stuck to the inside lane at 65 - 70. Unluckily for me, Mrs H and young Ellis, some pillock hadn't fixed his ladders to his car properly and his roof rack snapped leaving me with a double set of ladders 20 yards away at 70 with nowhere to go but over them, the car leapt into the air and buckled both front wheels and obviously burst the tyres. I was ok at first as we sat on the hard shoulder and baby seemed ok. I was stuck behind a red Fiesta that was also similarly damaged. I looked out of the back window to see loads of artics swerving out of the way of these ladders onto the hard shoulder and missing my car by about 30 feet......:(

We got out the passenger side and got the baby out and legged it down the embankment. It was 28th of Jan and fooking cold, not a good time to have an 8 day old baby on the side of the motorway.... Just as we thought things couldn't get any worse a blizzard started. A Police Range Rover pulled up and the Mrs and Ellis were whisked away!

The car was only 3 months old and never the same after jumping 2 feet into the air. Claimed off the ladder guys insurance and all was peachy!!

I've never been involved in a crash where I've been driving :innocent: I just have issues with stationary objects like garden walls, posts and other parked cars :D

Nudged my dad's car down his drive with a Nissan Primera. (He still doesn't know about this)

Scraped a celica on another car's bumper the first day I got it.

Hit a post on a car park in my 2nd celica.

Seriously 'scraped' a Mazda 6 on my garden wall.

Two things

a) I was younger back then..

b) Seen the length of your post before making wise cracks *grin* :p

I never claimed to be better. You'll notice that most of mine were pre 21 and not many were actually my fault. At 21 I still hadn't had a claim against me, more by luck than judgement!!:sly:

My beloved swift gti was wrote off in 2001 when I was 19, someone pulled out on me in an L reg escort on an A road and I t-boned him at 60mph, unfortuantely he died, I was left in intensive care for 10 days.

Also wrote off my rover 220 gti at a petrol station in 2003 embarrassingly :(

Other than that I've done alright, had a lot of old bangers and not so much as scratched one

Astra GTE - The day after I passed my driving test, 1995. 110leps into a chevron sign sideways. When I told my mum i'd written her car off, she looked quite puzzled and said 'impossible, its in the garage'. 'I pushed it out with my mates while you were'nt looking ma'. :innocent:

Corsa 1.0 - Mrs car 2005, useless pile of sh*te wouldnt turn into a bend at 30mph, over corrected and flipped it upside down into a ditch.

Mitsubishi L200 Triton 3.0 v6 - Last week. Picked up my new Supra, 300yrds from home the trailer brakes failed, and 1800 odd kg's of weight on the trailer very kindly pushed me into a farmers truck.

My first car was an A reg Fiesta and cost me 20 quid!

My mate was driving it around before I passed my test so put his XR2 Pepperpot alloys on for me too - I thought it looked the mut's nuts! :D

On a pub car park he asked me to drive around in it as he thought the alloys rubbed. I jumped in and floored it in reverse showing off to a big gang of mates, drove straight into a huge bottle bank and flipped the bank on it's side.

My rust riddled fiesta literally crumbled into a write off...:D

I wrote off my Beemer 320i back in '81.

The (ex-)missus had just taken her seatbelt off to sort out our daughter in the back when I hit a patch of water just before a l/h bend. We skidded straight on into the side of an old Wolseley, knocking his front r/h wheel right off.

The ex smacked her head on the windscreen. She swears she still pulls out the occasional bit of glass to this day. :)

I've had seven accidents. All exactly the same.

Crossing roundabout and person approaching from left (supposed to give way) has driven straight out in front of me! Bang!

Last one was in my mums first ever new (brand new) car, didn't even get chance to brake!

Must be jinxed.:help:

Mine was good bout 2 yrs ago h reg orion 1.4 standard going fast an tree branches where in road so went round it an as i came back on my side the back came out. I tryed to correct it fish tailing up road hit kirb though hedge got six foot in air cause i hit a tree head on at that height. Snapped it clean my friend was in back he went through front window but the force of tree took it out so he just went through the hole.

Then it came down on its boot folded that under the car then barral rolled down the road an landed upside down in road my mate in the front was knocked out by dash an girlfriend was screaming in back i had to drag everyone out through back window cause roof came down.

I had broked ribs girlfriend had shock mate had nose bleed and the one through window didnt even had lump on his head but remembers the car flipping over his head when he landed.

Never written off a car, but my first car was an Escort which I pranged in three separate parking incidents:

- Once, I parked it into a vertical gutter pipe and needed a new bumper

- I also parked it into brick pillar in a car park and needed a new wing

- Then once I parked it at 30mph into the back of a Rover on the A281 and needed major repairs (barely a scratch on the Rover, mind! They didn't even bother claiming!)

I spun my 16V Clio into a kerb once whilst trying to understand what lift-off oversteer meant. Now I know. "Lift-off oversteer" means "make sure you've saved enough money for a new set of wheels".

Must have matured a bit after that, 'cos 3 years in my 328, 2 years in the Supra and now a year in the Aristo and not a single crash (touch wood - and not the 40mph sideways into a tree kind of touch, please).
