johnny g
Hi everyone. Just waiting for my single kit to arrive. I've got a GT35R setup (cheers to Kyle for supplying!). Now, I'm currently running standard boost, standard ecu. Will the stock ECU (TT6 VVTi) supply enough fuel to support the GT35R @ 10psi until I can get the fuel system and mapping sorted? My instincts tell me that 10psi on this would be ok-ish, after all people can run hybrids on higher boost with the stock ECU. But it's just nice to get some other thoughts. Cheers. heckler
a stock ECU is set up to run sequntially, not a single as the map will be all wrong.
johnny g
I was thinking that, but isn't it just fuelling based on the airflow? Might just drive off boost to the mappers then
Nic
My instincts tell me that 10psi on this would be ok-ish My instinct is saying don't risk it, wait and do the complete install with fueling and ECU at the same time.
michel lane
you are just asking for trouble if you go down this route ... dont do it ..
johnny g
Would it be safe to tootle from Newcastle to Darlington? Don't get me wrong, I don't intend to fly around everywhere at full throttle - just a case of driving from the people who are installing the kit and doing the exhaust and then down to (hopefully) Michel's (need to arrange and get a quote etc) for the fuel system to be installed, clutch and then get Ryan to map the Link. Prob 40-50 miles max, off boost.
tooquicktostop
For piece of mind and only 50 miles I would stick it in/on a trailer, just not worth running a single on stock fuel/ecu, the ECU will be unable to manage the fuel within the correct tolerances
johnny g
Fair do's. I'll do that. As you say, prob for the sake of £50-£100, it's worth it.

Prob 40-50 miles max, off boost. completely off boost (and i mean no sneaky blips of the throttle:D) you will be absolutely fine i drove mine for 2 weeks, just to work and back then 200 miles down to Thor, this was stock ecu with a T61
Alex
Indeed - drive off boost all you like - if you think you can't actually manage not to be a tit. Then stick it on a trailer.

For your information, MATE, I'm actually NOT a tit, which is why I asking people's opinions - pool of knowledge and all that. IF I was a tit, then I'd be hooning it around and then asking about the best place for rebuilds done cheap. For absolute FS.

You *are* a t*t I don't think Alex was suggesting this though, the way I read it was that you are OK off boost, if you don't have the necessary restraint then stick it on a trailer. Calm down, calm down etc

paul mac
i think what Alex was referring to is the temptation to drive like a t*t knowing you have all the extra horses just waiting to be let off the reigns keep it off boost and you are essentially driving the same car as when it had the stock turbos so fueling will not be an issue
