Charlotte
It's also hard to believe that whatever her reason for doing what she did, that there is absolutely no love from her towards her child. The part of her that loves that child, as any mother must love their own child must be hurting too. She didn't love her child. You wouldn't do that to someone that you have any feelings for. Her child was just a tool she could exploit.

Agrred with Charlotte, There is no way in the world she loved Shannon. I have two children, They are very difficult at times, but there is now way in the world I would lay a finger on them. They are children and thats what they do. She is a sick person and for the judge to say she isn't sick is wrong. I would describe her as a repulsive, selfish person, she only had kids to get money, and then thought up a horrific plan to make money for her self. She along with the scum boyfriend should be kicked to death in the street along with all the other scum in the world.
Carl_S
True you would not expect that kind of behavior from a mother to her child to indicate that she showed any love for her, but human emotion and behaviour is an enormously complex subject. And although I know very little about it, I have a hunch that the bond that is created between mother and child, is very strong, and that there must have been care for Shannon to survive for so long before her case was made public. To say that Shannon was a mere tool to be exploited for her, oversimplifies the nature of human action and emotion. It is all to easy to demonise someone, and make them into monster worthy of being put to death in such cases. All too easy when we do not understand the deep motivations of why someone could do this. Just don't think it is as clear cut, as no love. You could extend the argument into does a man love his wife if he beats her (in a bullying sense), and vice versa.
