The Bahrain F1 Thread **SPOILERS INSIDE**

Well, for anyone watching it, do you think Alonso dabbed the brakes or not? LH went into him way too quickly in my opinion...

Fair play for him in getting back to the pits though, allthough he was all over the shop...

I reckon FA was just easing out the corner because of the oil spill ... Quimilton should have read it.

That will be his excuse no doubt, no other driver did this though. But as you say Hamilton should have known what he would do.

What do you expect Hamilton to do then, you've got to get up behind to obviously get the slipstream before you pass.

You can't drive tentatively expecting someone to lift off or you'll never get past.

I agree, as i said earlier i think alonso did it on purpose but with all the argy bargy in the past he should have expected Alonso would have done something daft or agressive on him. Hamiltons car easily had the marks on the renault and perhaps with Hindsight (as always) he should have slipstreamed him on the straight.

You expect the drivers to me more professonal than this nowadays, I suppose Alonso doesn't have that much to lose whilst driving for Renault.

So what did you make of Hamilton's hand gesture when overtaking (Fisi?)?

'The C*ck' said something like "he seems to be making this gesture to each of the drivers he overtakes. I can't quite think what it means though."

If it was just because he was p'd off with being blocked then he's gone down a bit in my estimation. He was racing them, not lapping them - why should they move over?

Correct me if i'm wrong but was it not Alonso making hand gestures.

Perhaps I missed Hamilton doing it as well I could well have dozed off with all the excitement

Aye, the stewards aren't going to bother looking into it, same as with Button and DC... Ah well, ref's decision I guess... The rest of it should be renamed the Bah Humbug GP Zzzz...

Hamilton has dismissed any suggestion that Alonso had deliberately slowed in front of him.

"I was behind him, and I moved to the right, and he moved to the right and that was it – a racing incident I guess," Hamilton said.

Spantard

:D

It was a bloody boring race tbh.

I had high hopes for this weekend, F1GP, ALMS, Superbikes and NASCAR. The F1GP and the WSB race 1 were painfuly boring, still haven't watched race2 as I'm watching a good ALMS.

I watched the GT3 racing on C4 this morning. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, Vipers. It was great if a little short at only half an hour!

Alonso in the clear ...

Renault and McLaren have both dismissed any suggestion that Fernando Alonso caused the crash that ruined Lewis Hamilton's Bahrain Grand Prix.

Hamilton smashed his front wing when he ran into the back of Alonso's Renault under acceleration out of the first corner on lap two - prompting some suggestions in the paddock that the former world champion had deliberately lifted off or 'brake tested' his 2007 title rival.

But Renault data seen by ITV Sport proved that Alonso was accelerating normally when the accident happened, and that the speed difference was purely a consequence of the McLaren getting a much better exit from the corner.

"Fernando came out of the turn and accelerated down the straight into fifth gear, hitting 227kph, full throttle, no touching of the brakes or anything like that," Renault's engineering director Pat Symonds was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

"You can see on the accelerometer the impact, that he got hit from behind.

"So all I can say from our side is there's no blame attributable to Fernando, which is what some of the speculation might be."

Alonso suggested that Hamilton - who was also adamant that the tangle was an innocent racing incident - was just in too much of a hurry to recover after his poor start.

"In the first couple of laps when you are running eighth or ninth, you try to recover places too quickly," said Alonso.

"On lap one he touched me at turn four, hitting the rear diffuser, and then on lap two he jumped into my rear wing.

"I was flat out and the McLaren is quite quick in the straights.

"I guess we were running too close and maybe he didn't realise how close we were."

Hamilton's McLaren team boss Ron Dennis also put the clash down to a misjudgement on Lewis's part.

"He tried to second-guess Fernando and vice-versa and damaged the car quite extensively and that was really it," Dennis was quoted as saying by Reuters.
