jevansio
I'm trying to fit 4 point harnesses, got a bit of a problem trying to fit one of the eyelets, it's the one that screws into the subframe (where the normal seatbelt holder goes), I've got bride subframes. When I screw it in it catches off the center tunnel meaning the seat can't locate in it's 4 bolt holes. The passenger one was similar but fitted (just), it's hard for the seat to move on it's runners now though. Any ideas?
RobSheffield
Any pics Jay? Which harness point are you fixing to the seat runners?
jevansio
Yeah I'll go and take some now to make it clearer. It's just the one that goes around your left hip as you sit in the drivers seat, the right hip has gone to the OEM front lower mounting point, & the shoulder straps have gone to the rear OEM points. jevansio
Here's where I've got the eyelets screwed in: Pic 1 - Looking into the rear. In the rear I've got 3 screwed in the OEM lower rear mounting positions. The centre one will take two (one from each driver & passenger shoulder). The outer ones will take one each from the driver & passenger shoulder. Pic 2 - Behind the drivers seat. I've screwed one eyelet into the lower front OEM mounting position. It holds the original seat belt strap in place (it used to be a simple bolt affair). Pic 3 - Looking down between the center console & the driver seat. Again I've used an eyelet in place of the bolt that used to hold the OEM seatbelt catch mechanism to the seat subframe. This is the one causing the problems as it catches against the center tunnel when I attempt to bolt the seat in place. Pic 4 - Passenger seat complete. Pic 5 - Passanger door side closeup. Just a closeup of the eyelet holding the passenger lap strap & the OEM seatbelt. Pic 6 - Looking down between the center console & the passenger seat. Again this eyelet holds the OEM seatbelt catch to the seat but also takes the other passenger lap strap. This seat will move backwards on the runners but it is very difficult (the eyelet is rubbing against the carpet on the center tunnel). jevansio
Finished this job today, ended up drilling & tapping the hole that the seat bolts to on the centre tunnel to 7/16th to match the eyelets, I saw Paul Mac had his doen that way . Supra_Sean
Sorry to bring up an old topic but no point starting a new one. Do you need these eyelets to fit a 4 point harness ? or can you just use bolts when tho the harness have clip ends sorta thing ? Sorry again
Chris Wilson
Quick release clips on the 4 point belts should go onto eyelets. Tags with round holes go onto bolts. Looped belt ends go onto roll cages with anti slide steel locators. Lots of Jap cars still use UNF seat belt mount threads.
Supra_Sean
Where can i get these eyelets from ? Also Chris i sent you a email the other day, not sure if you got it or not ?
Chris Wilson
Sorry, can't seem to find it. Either please re send or ring me on begin_of_the_skype_highlighting^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. Apologies. Any good engineers merchants will have them or search on machine lifting eyes. Mae sure the wire diameter of the eyes isn't too big for the clips to go over and the safety lock to drop. Chris Wilson
Don't know what happened there, Firefox wouldn't let me edit out the Skype number, every time I went to put the cursor near it it wanted to dial from the edit box....

Scott
You don't want to be fitting these in a road car Sean. Can be dangerous if you hit something.
