Powder coating wheels?

Have a look at the Work Hardening and Annealing sections of this link

 

Basically a metal can be work hardened.................think forged alloys here.......and the metals structure is altered.

 

Heating allows the metal to revert to its more natural ordered state which is more ductile but has less strength.

 

The link talks about copper in the main, and this metal work hardens significantly and is annealed at quite a low temperature.

 

The effects are less with aluminium but i'd do some research on the annealing temps of aluminium and compare it to the powder coating process temps......
