JustGav
Scary...in many ways..one for absolute coldness of it (but different people have different morals)...but also the phrase "young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet than they are spending on food" did strike a chord.. Scoboblio
Disgraceful. But their rulers have lots of money and oil and make friends with powerful people over here, so that makes routine murder ok.
Pete
But their rulers have lots of money and oil and make friends with powerful people over here, so that makes routine murder ok. Otherwise you're suggesting we go over there and teach the 'errors of their ways' ?

Pete
I had an M3 driver driving like a complete idiot the other day (I was in the ZR). I regularly hop on and off the M54 up a junction to get to Telford. This fool was 6 inches from my bumper down the slip road, floors it past me (before the lines on the road officially joint the motorway IYSWIM), then heads for the outside lane just as the guy in the centre lane goes to overtake and does the same (understandably totally unaware of this complete nobber due to how he's suddenly appeared on the motorway). This causes the M3 to unbalance as he realises he needs to take evasive action otherwise go into the rear of that car. So instead, he cuts in front of us on the inside lane before undertaking and then flying back to the outside lane. He then comes off the next junction the same as we do and makes it the round about about 5 seconds before we do and jets off again. Real stupid. So yes...that avatar was totally suitable to that particular M3 driver.

Pete
outside lane inside lane The fast lane is the "inside" lane, contrary to popular belief Scott =op I'd like to see evidence of that. (please not Wikipedia! ) No, not really. Well, you have lines from the slip road that guide you onto the motorway. He cut across at a point before where the lines merged..on the "do not enter" type area with all the diagonal lines in it.
Scott
Ok central reservation is the center of the motorway. Both sides of the motorway have the same central reservation. If you look at it logically the closer you are to the center the further inside you are, and the further away the more outside you are. Shouldn't need any proof, logic should be enough. It IS in the highway code book thing though. Scott =op

They use Left hand land and adjacent lanes. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069862
Scott
Same goes with overtaking. Think about daytona, when you undertake you are passing on the inside. The reason for this is you are passing the car at the closest position to the driver therefor his inside. However over here when you undertake you are passing on the outside as you are at the furthest most point from the driver. I have heard some police officers describing it wrong also but most of them describe it correctly. Confused yet? Scott op

Whether its official or not i don't know but the Police do use the terminology when explaining undertaking etc.
Jake
I meant to be IYKWIM Ah! Thank Gawd for that. I was racking my brain cell trying to figure it out. There's loads of hits for "IFYWIM" on Google too ! http://www.google.com/search?q=IFYWIM
