Guest fast4fun
Hi Folks, my name is Sebastian, i m from Gemany and i recently bought an MK IV built 94 from Japan. Now i want to get a little more power on the wheels (to be serious, i think, i only need some work...) Thought about an t 78 Charger, but as a matter of fack, it is an twin turbo... so, is it possible to build an combination of an t 78 and an t 76 charger to the engine? i already organized some "toys" like an SAFC II, an Blitz SBC ID III , an Blitz ID III Powermeter... in addition to that i got an TEIN damping (?) System, included EDFC the next days i want to build all these things into my baby, and im already thinking about the Turbos, which give me sleepless nights... as the next i would need some bigger fuel injectors(?). what kind of electronic device would i need for this... Please excuse my bad english, i m not sure if i described some expressions correctly -->(?) regads Sebastian
Jake
Hi Sebastian You should be able to control the bigger fuel injectors with the SAFC II you already have. I don't think the idea of using two different size turbos is going to be practical to achieve. It's not something that I have much knowledge about though. By the way, your English is much better than most of our members can manage. Welcome.
Guest fast4fun
thanks.. i first thought that too (SAFC II), bur a friend of mine said, i had to reprogramm my ecu, another possibility would be an HKS free programmable ecu(?) but i´d know better ways to spend around 2000$ e.g. the turbos.. so i m not sure, he said, with the SAFC i could programm the flow, but not the timeof the injection (understand what i mean, can´t express it correctly, sorry)
Alex
What's you ultimate budget and what do you intend to do with the car? Drag race? 2x T78's would give you about 1500hp! Would that not be overkill? You need to set clear goals and buy the kit to get you there.
Guest fast4fun
1500? is this reality, it seems a bit much, at first i´d try about 800bhp, im not sure about the price, i had an offer for an T78 kit (not sure if single or biturbo) included ECU etc.. for about 4000€, that doesn´t seem to be too expensive, what do you think? is there any better than T78? i think the chargers start at about 4000-4500 rpm and that is a little late... (if i´m wrong, please correct me, i´m here for learning about my engine and all around)
Alex
A GReddy T-78 kit is 1 turbo. The kit is good for 700HP but it is OLD. There are far better kits out there, but they tend to cost more. The GReddy T78 is actually a T67 compressor (67mm) and they don't tend to spool very quickly. A modern equivelent would be the BL67. Have a search for Boostlogic on this site or visit http://www.boostlogic.com or talk to Vortex Power on this site.

Markie
What about the 76mm Garrett GT42 DBB. I heard this packs some power..
Alex
Well it will pack some pawer as it's 76mm and the other turbo's mentioned in this thread are 67mm. A modern T67 can deliver over 700RWHP with Race Fuel....and still spool up fully by 4000rpm. A 76mm (even a DBB one) will probably be another 600-1000rpm later spooling but yes it could provide more power...but would you really need it? Whitelightning
DBB BL74 spools at 4200.
Alex
That's on a built engine though...you've got more capacity and better bits in TAZ.
Whitelightning
So I hear Well, I suppose the question is whats your favourite turbo - given money is no object. Because you could go for bolt ons or full rebuilds. Some turbos lend themselves to being bolted on with few other mods, others need a full compliment of upgrades before they are safe or any ise in reality. Alex
Did you run without a WG or something? :o
Guest Usmann A
pfft - gates, what are they? Serioulsy tho, I was kind of expecting around the 4200++ mark, but it spooled nice for a meduim size unit. Ill put up the logs later, but its AEM, so you need the software. http://www.aempower.com remember, I had a really small intercooler, stock inlet runners, etc
