Fargo
hmm, I'd really like to see that one explained away. I've often wondered if they really give a discount or if its just bull. I was planning on trying them when my insurance is due as the price they quoted was good. Sky, please would you explain this..
jazz1
well my renewal stated its with club discount etc 700 odd, iv been quoted else where and they did ask if i was a club member. They quoted me 580 and thats much better deal in the sense theyy also included break down cover which sky were charging 50 pounds more on my 700:rolleyes:. I would like to see an explanation to why iv been charged 20 pounds more on my renewal for adding 2 years no claims that makes me laugh
Tom S
I've just renewed my Insurance for my Aristo with GFV. Last year I paid £450 Protected No CLaims + £32 for GFV This year my renewal was £539 + Cost of GFV I shopped around and in the end got a better deal, with like for like parts etc. I called Sky and discussed it with the team. Sky listened, and in the end my renewal was £485 including the GFV. So I must say that Sky will listen and look after you if you talk to them. For info:- Greenlight woldn't insure me A-Plan's best price was £611 not including GFV Confused.com Waste of Time Adrian Flux - good Quote which got me a better price with Sky. My advice is be honest and upfront. I live in the NE, I'm old (40) and the Aristo is heavily Modded, add the 6 points and a recent claim for attempted theft and I think it is a good price. cheers Tom

Hi, I have only just seen this thread, it is difficult for me to tackle so many points now the thread has progressed so far. With regards to the quote above, I would like to look into this one, all of our calls are recorded so I can check back to see exactly what was said. As has rightly been pointed out we should only be applying the discount to members. We do on occasion apply the discount to a non member but this would only be done with a view to the customer joining the club and proving membership when we send the documents out... this has its obvious benefits in recruiting new members to the club. I will also state again, the club scheme works very well for the majority or members. We insured dozens of Supras last month so we are obviously very competitive with price once the discount is applied. Safely Insured
you only ever hear about bad news. I bet if you looked at the number of bad threads people post up, then asked how many are insured with sky. there is a hell of alot more insured with them then people moaning. Good point, very well made. It is the very nature of insurance that we will always have criticism directed towards us, we expect this and deal with it by having a presence on the forum. We insure a lot of club members, the VAST majority are happy with the service (and prices) they are receiving. Plus Jazz moans about every insurer and everything lol No comment
jazz1
funny thing the discount was stated on the renewal form, last year i didnt add any no claims and payed 680 but this year with adding 2 years it came to 700 which made me laugh. Thats my point im making is how comes its higher in price after adding 2 years? iv been quoted chepaer else where so you guys have just lost 1 customer:)
MRX
Spoke to Luke at Sky this morning and was very impressed, seemed like a top bloke. Their quote was only just slightly above what I could have got from the insurance company I work for (staff discount 25%). Because I know my company will hammer me when I start modding I went with Sky as hopefully they will give me a better deal later on with the mods... fingers crossed. Bossco
I cant fault sky to be honest. My N/A was insured with them this year as they were miles cheapest for me. I called them 2 months back about insuring my 2nd car. They gave me a more than competitive price on my Micra and found a company who would mirror my 4 years no claims discount I had on my Supra. Then I rang them last week as my N/A will be a fairly well modded TT this week :). My premium only went up by £117 which again was far and away lower than any of the other companies I rang. That said I would be anoyed if I thought that we wernt getting a little discount for being club members.

That's interesting, I was with Norwich union with my Fiat Coupe and when I bought the Supra and told em about it they wouldn't touch me all though I'd been with them 8 years odd with 2 Cars. Conrad
I insured my first BPU Supra through Sky for a little over 1k and was more than happy with that at the time. When I came to insure my 2nd standard TT with them they wanted nearly 900 quid and withdrew agreed value, I insured with Adrian Flux for 720. They're certainly not as competitive as they first were. As for what Jazz is saying I can totally understand. I'm 28 and my insurance has come down every single year as my age and NCB went up - despite my cars becoming higher risk. I expect it only levels out and starts to increase once you're 30+
