I normally wouldn't do this sort of thing, but as I love GSD, I'm going to post it up and see if someone would be interested in this young girl and giving her a good home. paul mac Posted April 3, 2008 Share Posted April 3, 2008 she looks very nice, but a word of warning as i have a GSD called Jezel and the last dog (Rebel - RIP) was one as well, they are not a dog for the beginer, please do not take a dog on like this just cos she looks cute these things are not police dogs by accident they are a loaded weapon, if you dont rule them with a rod of iron they can very quickly get out of control and this is probably why she is at the dog pound in the first place, dont get me wrong they make a great dog if you put the work in, loyal, obedient, smart and will literally die on the door step to defend your property, these dogs will not "lick" the burgler they will disembowel him, i have 2 young children and as much as i love my dog he knows his place and lives in the utility room off the kitchen, one snap cos he/her has a bone or a toy could be your kids face, dont take a dog on like this on a whim, on a brighter note heres my bad boy "on guard" Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They aren't cute. Our GSD is brilliant with our 7yr old, but both know the pecking order and at age 7 Aiden can take him for a walk and he will listen. And yes Apollo would pretty much take someone apart if they went for any of the kids. He has nipped the neighbour's kid when he was making the kids scream. Thankfully he is a good person and works at the RSPCA so he knew why the dog did it and soon they started playing. Apollo is Mel's dog as GSD are very much pecking order based, and he knows his area. He does sleep in the house at night but his place is by the door and he is more than happy to curl up with the draft excluder and go to sleep and won't come upstairs unless disturbed. This is so true....We took a hell of risk with Apollo as he is a rescue. We assume we homed him at around 7 years old. Initially very unsure what to expect from a GSD that has been starved and just general abused. Needless to say he recoved very well and has integrated in exceptionally well without any serious issues. Sometimes forgots that I'm 2nd to the alpha (Mel) and not him, but a swift word and all resumed back to normal. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
