Animal
I'm expanding my music collection again, finding a lot of the old thrash bands I listened to and have little of. In a few hours I'll have lots more stuff by: Onslaught Overkill Testament (New album!) Candlemass D.A.M Dark Angel Autopsy Obituary (New Album!) Death Angel Lawnmower Deth ("Mower Liberation Front" split EP with Metal Duck - I've been after that for years) Sodom Nuclear Assault Sadus and Forbidden Evil \m/
michael
I had the Lawnmower Deth EP back in the day but it's been lost, would you be able to host a copy once you grab it? I only have "Ooh Crikey It's... Lawnmower Deth" on CD, comedy stuff
Homer
And only this morning I found an ancient Death Angel cassette in a cupboard... only problem is there's nothing to play it in now! Also, Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction is being played in full tonight on Radio 1 (no breaks at all)
Animal
Don't know about hosting, but I can certainly bung stuff on CD's for you
CJ
Steve Grice (drummer with Onslaught) worked for my printing company. Nice lad too.
Havard
Steve Grice (drummer with Onslaught) worked for my printing company. Nice lad too. Used to be a big fan of Onslaught. I did hear a rumour that Nige Rockets guitar solos had been "tampered" with so it sounded like more notes per second on the cd. I kind of lost interest after that but it could have been complete nonsense!! H.

RedM
Animal, See if you can find a copy of Suffering Hour by Anacrusis. Obscure but very rocking. ...and Death Angel. How awesome were Frolic Through The Park and ActIII? Very. I think they were one of the first thrash bands to have full acoustic guitar songs (Room with a View and Veil of Deception IIRC). Anyone remember Mordred? Thrash band with a DJ!
RedM
Oh and Acid Reign and Xentrix (Britain's Metallica).

Anyone remember Mordred? Thrash band with a DJ! Downloading Anacrusis discography as we type. (Cheers, I'd forgotten about them) Death Angel were fantastic, Act III is a brilliant album, I would say definately a forerunner to the prog metal bands like Dream Theater. Coroner were another obscure (in the UK) band who were technically very good. I have 2 Mordred albums. Fools Game has some good tracks on it (Everyday's a Holiday, Superfreak) The Testament album is new this year. Slayer, MOD ,SOD, Exodus, Obituary, and I think Nuclear Assault have all had new albums out in the last 18 months
RedM
What about Voivod? Their Dimension Hatross record was thrash prog of the highest order.
Animal
True, got most of their stuff, too. They did a bitchin' cover of Pink Floyd's "Nile Song". Tribal Convictions was always a favourite. Tankard were kind of amusing, too, while we're on obscure stuff.

Animal
And another thing - what's up with the kids today? They've no idea what a decent mosh pit is. When I was at the Black Crusade tour, it was like watching a ring of fairies! No elbows, no bloody noses, nothing. Pussies.

LOL, yeah. Gang Green, "Church of Fun". They were cool. Okay, not thrash, but I'll see your Gang Green and throw in The Macc Lads, "Beer & Sex & Chips & Gravy" he, he - metal top trumps... I come from a hardcore punk background so always though metal mosh pits were a bit tame. Moshing was a creation of the hardcore scene with it's origin on the West Coast of the US. CJ
Just had this from Gricey: Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeester Jones How are you? I still have contact with PresstoPrint, as they are called now. Business is very slow here at the moment thanks to the USA sneezing. We tend to do a lot of gigs all over the world now,Spain last Sat then straight to Norway. 3 dates in Holland next week with 1 in Germany and then off to Eastern Europe for 10 shows. Beats selling print mate. You can keep tabs on what we are doing at http://www.myspace.com/onslaughtuk take a look and you never know you might even come and see us play one time...... Oh by the way, my old mate Dave Bateman who himself bought a bar in Spain, died just before Xmas at the young age of 44. Gutted mate! All the best Steve
Animal
Hmmm.... I come from a hardcore punk background so always though metal mosh pits were a bit tame. Moshing was a creation of the hardcore scene with it's origin on the West Coast of the US. I went from NWOBHM straight to speed metal and thrash, then heard Napalm Death shortly after Scum and got into hardcore/crossover stuff like D.R.I, and early Suicidal Tendencies, followed by the arrival of death metal/grindcore. I remember many a night out at the various rock clubs in the early 90's getting bruised in pits listening to "Toxic Waltz", "Institutionalised" and "Ghostbusters" before the clubs banned them and all we had was "Painkiller" and cheesy Metallica songs
RedM
Ah! Institutionalised. One of my favourite songs ever. vXK0Hjfkrgw

RedM
Young? 'Course he was. They were just kids when the first record came out. If only kids today were making music that vital just for the fun of it rather than trying to make a career.

Animal
Nuclear Assault FTW If only they'd had slightly better production on their earlier albums. The Plague is a classic.
CardiffSupra
Any of you know a band called Ignight? They play some sweet old school punk/metal music.
