Havard
the company i work for always deals with howdens. i dont find thier stuff anything special but went to pick up a couple of bits and pieces from them for work and found out (shown on the receipt) that my company(not technically my company) get a discount of 65%-75% on products from them!!!! Silly discounts!! We got a family member to buy our bedroom at staff discount at Howdens. I almost felt sorry for them as they fitted it, way too cheap!! Paul
Might pop into John Nicolls over the weekend. They are bloody expensive but hopefully they have a designer that can actually design. Take any ideas from them but you are getting dragged into the classic kitchen trap that loads of people I know have fallen for, thinking that paying out big means a quality product and installation. Most of the units are made the same sort of way, we looked at Magnet and compared to MFI the carcase was almost identical yet the doors were less well made imo, th Magnet one worked out at thousands more. All the fittings, hinges and soft close jobbies are the same whatever the make, they all do them so don't be swayed by this either. The 'designers' are all crap, take your time and look at what's available and take ideas from each then just tell them what you want and get them to price it then knock them down loads;)
Homer
I agree with Paul here, there is a hell of a lot of massively overpriced kitchen suppliers out there. Some of the prices I've seen for really basic parts are rediculous (e.g. One local "designer" kitchen company was charging 5 times the trade price on their taps). IME Howdens are one of the best out there for good quality and realistically priced kictchens, though you do need to know someone in the trade to use them. (In reality they'll deal with anyone with a company ). As Jamie mentions, it's final finish is all in the fitting...
BEERSHZ
had ours done by b&q last year, confirmed delivery for may it eventually all finished being delivered in August! At one point we had bits of 3 different kitchens! We'd ordered one of the top end ones and was still bad quality, and their customer service is terrible. but I did eventually get all my money back from them and some after a very stern letter to their h/o.
