Local elections - who are you voting for?

Only one party actively tries to tell me what they want to achieve in my area, that's the BNP, their intentions are solid enough too if their leaflets are to be believed, good honest local stuff for the local people... I still can't bring myself to vote for them though... this means I won't vote for anyone because I have no idea what the others want to do and aren't going to chase them to find out.

I completely agree Michael. They seem to be the only party really addressing the issues at the moment, but the racism vibe still remains even if they have some excellent policies on the cards. I'm sorry to say that they would get my vote and I am by no means racist to anyone, quite the opposite. Like you however, I probably won't bother again this year. Do the Government adverts make me feel guilty about not using my vote - not for sh&t.

Mustn't be around here yet, I haven't had a polling card delivered.

I'm in completely two minds about local elections - I never hear a word from any of the parties about what they're planning to do, so part of me wants to just ignore them.

But then again, politicians (even local councillors) can't make brave decisions without the ordinary Jo's showing that they'll support them and they won't lose their job by annoying a few individuals. Not voting just puts more power in the hands of people who at the first sign of any change or controversy, run to their local councillor threatening to put them out of a job.

True, nothing around here either, unless I missed it.

Think it's time for a change, although nothing will change.. :(

I used to think that tbh. The BNP are just a bunch of racist bigots!! It would be refreshing to see someone take the lead and sort out all the problems instead of just blaming everything on people who aren't white....

This is part of the issue I have with them, my local lot seem decent enough - race / immigration etc isn't something they play on at all from what I've seen. They are more interested in halting the increase in house building because the roads are too busy here, sorting out anti-social "yoofs" and getting them off the streets, filling in potholes, looking after the old folks with free buses and so on... but then the BNP in general seems to be more interested in painting everyone white and wittering on about immigration.

I hope they do. This country has been let down by weak leadership. I don't vote any more, they are all bent!

Shame on you, your vote is important!

Having said that I haven't seen or heard anything about any elections in our area - nothing through the door or anything so I'm not even sure they are in our area.

I don't know what any of the parties stand for ie their current views on issues but then I don't make an effort to find out and really I suppose I should.
