Dragonball
And I have to say how dissapointing! OK - it was an older one - An E36 Evo - convertable - R Reg However - slower than the soop - noticably slower - and not as much holding as the 350Z So there is a wanted ad posted up... AJI
yes the older M3s are not much to write home about...... but the newer ones and especially the new V8 one... much much improved.

I've never driven an e36 so can't comment. My e46 is pretty quick but you have to work the engine to get the best out of it; max power isn't until 7900rpm (I think that's right), so you have to keep the revs up if you want to make some rapid progress. What do you mean by 'holding'? The handling? The handling on mine is fantastic, much better than any Supra I've driven. Try the e46 Paul, you might like it. Go for a proper one though, you know; with a roof. The Wendyhouse ones are for poseurs
steb9780
I had a pull behind my mates M3 E36 he pushed it too hard and tried sliding round a corner. He lost the back end, hit the brakes, then the backend went the other way, he ended up on the side of the road with a smashed wheel. He shrugged it off, and said I nearly had you though Mug So I offered him a straight line race (I didn't want him to overdo it around the bends in his awesome M3), he declined

I have driven convert's but they are noticably slower because of the extra weight and handling suffers as well. You need to keep the revs up on a m3 and they are suprisingly fast for a non turbo and really need a good driver to get the best out of them and yes Jake your spot on 7900 rpm is peak. As for handling all i can say is wow, what a chassis! I took my 570 odd bhp single supra round donnigton but i bet my m3 will lap it quicker and it is bog standard. Turn in is crisp and much better weight distribution than a soop around 53% front 47% rear and the m power diff on the e46 is brilliant. Dragonball
Guess which one he'll go for. Maybe Nah - I think a hard top for me this time So need to look out for a E46 as an alternative Thanks for the input - in the meantime I might look around for a manual Soop to keep me interested
