Guest tony8
http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=322815 if you read suprasteve post It can't do 7 minute laps at the Nurburgring at all. He'd beat me; I've just replaced my Supra with a newer one featuring 550bhp and until it's been set up as I'd like it, I am struggling to find useable traction unless I'm in 6th gear. didnt know supra had that much of a traction until 6th gear

Jake
That appears to be our own SteveR, who now owns my old blue VVti 6sp - or at the very least somebody called called Steve who own a year 2000 single turbo Supra with exactly the same spec as my old car! See post number 165 on this page > http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=322815&page=

Jake
Although tony8 has not made it very clear he's actually quoting suprasteve from the thread he's linked to on that chav forum.
Gazboy
Fair enough (I still struugle with the concept of no traction in the first five gears though)
Scott
I found the bit about how a supra can't handle even though its pretty quick in a straight line quite funny. Scott =op
Gazboy
God knows why people say that, perhaps they've never driven one. If I can run with 911's and caterfields then either my car handles or I'm a driving God- you choose. Edit- a Focus driver said it- 'kin ell I lap those things... It's always seemed to me that a lot of non-Supra people thnk the MK4 is just like the MK3. I'm not saying the MK3 can't handle either, but I've heard those people liken it to a boat. Gaz6002
So his focus RS is quicker than your Supra at only 380bhp? I hope you're planning on going to Donny and showing him up
SteveR
That might be me - the car is indeed capable of a 7 minute lap, of that I'm sure - it's a slightly more powerful spec, but with the same suspension, as one that has managed a 7 minute 54. (I probably opened myself up to being misinterpretted there, saying a '7 minute lap', but I never for a moment meant 7 minutes dead.) Dunno what littlechav's problem was, he just seemed to hate all Supras, I guess he had a 'bad' one, years ago when he wasn't so much of a tw@t. SteveR
So his focus RS is quicker than your Supra at only 380bhp? I hope you're planning on going to Donny and showing him up Nope - he'd 'win', like I said in the post - the car needs a service for starters but better traction, whic should come from new rears and a full geo setup. Anyway, with that many chavs in one location (Donny Show), I wouldn't go anyway - don't want to catch anything! I might take to the track for a lap of Silvestone at the time attack/etc there, on 1st June. That is quite tempting, even if you only get a few mins, £20 is worth it for the experience (assuming it's the full GP track... hmmmmmm)

You've got almost 200bhp more than him and a RWD chassis... I'll be going to Donny and I may well be getting some track time there too
SteveR
Really? He'd win? You've got almost 200bhp more than him and a RWD chassis... I'll be going to Donny and I may well be getting some track time there too Well, maybe not. It still needs a service and though, so theat totally rules out any more meils being done for the time beaing. Plus I'm not into racing TBH - exploiting the car on a track is my 'thing', but racing is much more likley to end in tears. Anyway, the RWD setup is apparently a disadvantage compared to the Focus' setup. I did have to smile at 5th gear the other day, when the stock 15 year old Escort beat the stock RS round the Anglesey track (reportedly having "about the same power"), and in the same episode, the Supra was referred to as "an amazing car". lol. Since that thread, littlechav thingy face has started another thread, claiming I'm a liar, haven't got a 400bhp Supra (eh?! - probably 50% of the people on this forum have Supra with about 400bhp or more! lol) Supra can't handle and that I waste "all" my money on cars, don't have a girlfriend, any mates, a house, have jepodised my future by only spending money on cars. Such an insightful character! I should never have posted TBH. That forum is brimming with chavs nowadays, I was only ever a member because my dad lives in and loves Sheffield, and it was one way of keeping in touch with him and a few other mates - recent events have persuaded me to leave it to the scumlords who've largely taken it over, however. It's not the place it used to be.
Gaz6002
It's an all too common and familiar story these days mate. I get the same on some of the forums I frequent (I use them to find out about local goings on and news from the scene). People turn into complete idiots when behind their keyboard and monitor. He may well think his car is unbeatable but it obviously isn't. Maybe it's the quickest one he's owned? Oh, by the way, I know of a Focus ST that is running almost as much power as his is - so I very much doubt his is one of the quickest. Fair play about not liking Racing. I wish I could say the same! I'm addicted, hence us building a race-car next year. It's not something I want to do on the road and the trackdays that I usually go for don't encourage people to compete. The 'Ring is the same really - but I go there for the sheer enjoyment of the track. One thing is for sure, if I'm out on track this weekend and I get over-taken by a Focus RS then i'll retract what I said earlier. Somehow I doubt it though

Oh, by the way, I know of a Focus ST that is running almost as much power as his is - so I very much doubt his is one of the quickest. The Focus owner seemed alright to be honest (apart from thinking they handle well and Supras don't ), his mate with the Evo was quite excitable but ok in the end, it was the complete nobody who got worked up and started chucking accusations about who is a c0ck. At that point I become disinterested with the whole forum (bit of a 'last straw' I guess) and have upped sticks and left it completely. He can froth away to his hearts content. Fair play about not liking Racing. whoaaa! I'm sure if I gave it a go - I'd be hooked in a nanosecond. I never said I didn't like it, I'm just worried it'd cost me tooooooo much. The 'Ring is the same really - but I go there for the sheer enjoyment of the track. That's more like me. Along with other elements of my life, I enjoy my car within the reasons of 'justifiable' expenses whenever I can. I look after it (erm... why wouldn't you look after your own possessions?) and will continue to do so until the crazy world we live in abolishes petrol and we all have to drive electric dullnesses. One thing is for sure, if I'm out on track this weekend and I get over-taken by a Focus RS then i'll retract what I said earlier. Somehow I doubt it though lol! Beep & wave if you pass any! Oh - and try not to catch anything 'icky' from the less desirable elements present at the show!

Is it just a bling alternative to heat-wrap or are there any other (real) advantages?

carl0s
I'm surprised they can increase the power of that Focus so much without any proper fuel systems modifications (injectors etc.), but I guess modern ECUs are easily re-mapped, and they wouldn't be offering the service if it didn't work..
