Losing everything through excessive speed

I live on what is often an empty country road. It's dead straight for about a mile and a half. It's been the demise of a motorcyclist and the near demise of a car driver, plus the demise of dogs, wandering fowl and countless foxes in recent years. Hit a badger at 130 and it'll be like small plane crash. Hit a tree and it'll be almost certainly fatal (for you, the tree will probably shrug it off without flinching). If you have an insatiable appetite to speed a quiet motorway is probably safest from the possibility of an accident point of view, if not the likelihood of getting caught point of view. A track day is the best way to sate your appetite, IMHO.

Good man, I remember all those moons ago, that at 20, i certainly wasn't as wise as you.

Even at 35 years of age, i sometimes forget that i am driving a lethal weapon- weapon i accept if i drive it like one!

Just like guns....its not guns that kill people it's the person that pulls the trigger. You have to be responsible for your actions.

One of the key reasons i sold the Supra, i was 19 and had a TT6 Supra legally on the road

Temptation was high

But unfortunately too so were casualtys around me, so that, along with costs, aided me in my decision.

Thing is Danny, when i first started to drive at 18/19 all i could afford insurance wise was a 1.3 escort, christ knows what i would have been like with 326bhp under my right foot.

Thing is you only live once and there is plenty of time to enjoy fast cars, although i still see many younger people driving impressive cars and SENSIBLY.

You are correct I was being abusive, however please re read my statement, there you will clearly see I did not direct it at any one person.

OK I apologise, just been a long day and just felt I needed to share this post, I just thought you were being sarcastic on what is a serious issue.

That was why i got the car originally, "you only live once"

And i did drive it like a nun alot of the time, Round my way you cant use all the power, but when you did, it is fun granted.

So that also aided my decision.

Also the fast driving and somewhat silly driving of some of my friends has led to there premautre departure from the world

And round our way with so many in such a short time, everything has changed

Nothing is the same anymore

That is another effect, Mentally it really really hits you, aswell as what you have outlined in your first post

Simon - 20 years old today - happy birthday - rest in peace

Not being sarcastic at all. :)

Both are serious issue, speeding kills, it also claims your licence.

Undertaking kills, it also causes road rage which can then lead to someone causing an accident.

RUBBISH IDIOTIC COMMENT

Um... no. He has a point. How else would you be undertaken? You should always pull over to as far left as you can to let other motorists through. It's people who don't that cause problems for the sensible motorists. Of course there are exceptions to the rule (traffic jams being one) but in general I agree.

IDIOTIC COMMENT

and so is

breaking the speed limit is NOT SAFE

So you drive at exactly 3omph everywhere and never go over 7o on a quiet open motorway?

The speed limits are draconian, both ways, I've seen 3o zones at the front of schools

Why did you buy a supra if you dont ever intend to break the speed limit? Why not limit yourself to a 12oocc engine and not give yourself the choice, utterly pointless thread:rolleyes:

If you dont know the risks you shouldnt own a licence
