Homer
I've use Natwest for about 10 years. Granted its only for Ltd company contracting so don't use many services, but I have found them 1st class. - The call centre is UK based, I'm never waited long than 30 seconds to be answered. The staff there know what they're talking about too. - I have a business advisor assigned but haven't needed to speak to her very often. The only time was when I was applying for a personal loan, she got involved and arranged it all for me dispite it not being related to the business. - They have online services but I've never used them. I just use the automated phone system for bank transfers (mainly between my business and personal accounts. Transfers are instant within business hours) I really can't fault them... johnny g
Homer, I'm the same with you - but with HSBC. I think they're much of a muchness these days as the market is so competitive.

Wez
Thanks guys, I will have a look around and see what deals they are offering. I had a real nightmare with Barclays today and last week, they are doing my fapping head in.

Harps
Thanks guys, I will have a look around and see what deals they are offering. I had a real nightmare with Barclays today and last week, they are doing my fapping head in. They're bloody awful. Don't think the bloody personal advisor woman has ever phoned us, and the only time I contacted her was to get some statements that took over a month to arrive. GazB
With NatWest but the RBS Commercial team look after me, better service than the high street banking that was sold to me as a buisness account been with them about 4 years. Good luck with which ever one you choose, my personal accounts are with TSB and haven't had a problem with them in 20 years. I think all banks are a bit edgy at the moment with regards to lending money as most haven't got any Banks with no cash what a laugh
ADL Mark
I have a personal account, not business, with HSBC and all the call centres I ever get to are overseas and speak poor English. Are the business call centres different? I was told by a woman the other day that to get out of my overdraft (bearing in mind I'm off sick for 12+ months for treatment and recovery from cancer) I should get a part-time job. Took a lot of self-control not to tell her to have sex and travel.. HSBC also don't allow you to phone your local branch directly which I find very annoying. I'm changing banks soon. hogmaw
Abbey no question. 1 - free banking, saves you hundreds a year. A no brainer. 2 - UK direct line call centre with humans who answer and who speak english 3 - merchant banking rates cheapest I could find anywhere 4 - online banking too, all free As for international transfers you will not find any uk bank that will allow you to do those without filling in forms and usually at a cost of £15-£25. I regularly use the online service from Amex, it is all online, cost £10 per transfer, it is fast and you pay direct debit. Best of luck with your business today I got stung for £17k when one of my distributors went down so be careful out there
Gaz Walker
We use Barclays too but have a pretty good relationship with them so although its costs we get a lot of help. If we had to move I'd choose Abbey in a heartbeat though due to costs and their service which I always here good things about. Regards, Gaz. hogmaw
Make the change gaz, I moved from Natwest and have not looked back. It is a hassle for a month or two having to renew standing orders, dd's etc, but free banking does save a LOT of money so it is worth it
outatime
We've been with Lloyds TSB Commercial for over 35 years now, and had decent service through good and bad times. My only complaint would be the diminishing amount of personal contact and the high turnover of business managers, although that probably apply to most banks now. I have looked at changing a few times, but the rates are very similar. I've heard good things about HSBC too.
jefferson
dont know whether this helps - for any of you out there thinking of moving to Abbey - i work for them (as a mortgage adviser) i have the number for the local(northwest) business banking manager which i could pass on to anyone - just pm me if required - guys name is Kevin Gribbin and he will be happy to answer any questions for you (yes i know its a shameless plug for abbey but i couldnt resist:D:eyebrows:)
Nick
I'm currently with Barclays and it's been nothing but a headache. I've just opened accounts with HSBC so I can use HSBCnet but now they're giving me the run around too. All I want is online banking with both Sterling and Currency accounts with online international payments. I'm fed up with spending 20 minutes on the phone every time I want to make a transfer, just ridiculous. I've been able to make online international payments from my personal account for years. Got a couple of leads from Hogmaw:thumbs: so will find a solution I'm sure.
