Howdo mate...

As far as I know - getting an aftermarket water temp gauge to read accurately from the stock sensor might not be easy. Most of them come with a sensor that needs to sit inline with the cooling system. You can normally just cut a hose, insert the sensor inline with the hose and then jubilee clip both parts of the cut hose to the sensor housing. I think the sensor housing can be ordered for different diameters of hose - just make sure you have the right one before cutting into any! This is obviously gonna get air in the system so it might be best to plan for a coolant change at the same time and kill two birds...

I'm not Supra techie at all so someone else will know exactly what you need to do!

It's something I want to get done too!

Many thanks for the help. I am not really lookign for a long term fix or infact an accurate reading. The gauge I have got is one of the basic ones from Halfords which i think will work with the standard sensor. The car is booked in with Dude next week but as I blew a hose and dumpped most of the water from the system I want to keep an eye on the temp very closely until then.

Thanks to Dude I have found it, for those who dont know. As you look at the engine block at the front there is the top hose from the radiator that goes into the engine. (Has a metal end). In the the metal end nestled between the pipe and the engine block are two sensors pointing forward. The water temp sensor is the one with only 1 wire (top one i think).
